Please give me some hope. I have the max and so far £500 is my biggest win for some years. How realistic am I to hope for more??

I won £100 when I invested £3500

TheRozzers · 14/11/2024 09:32

£750 was the best month ever. It came after 2 consecutive months of no prizes though.

£50k invested.

Grannyinnwaiting · 14/11/2024 09:38

my sister won about £7k ( maximum invested) my MiL and i also have max invested and regularly win a few hundred at a time but no more. We all expect to win the million each month!

ScoobyDoesnt · 14/11/2024 09:41

I only have £1,000 in, but have won £100 twice this year.

That's good!

Sadly I think I'm fooling myself now.

There is a very active Premium Bonds thread on here. A mumsnetter won £50k a couple of months ago.

GiraffeTree · 14/11/2024 09:50

£350 is my highest win

FfsNotNow · 14/11/2024 09:51

£100 - this morning! Before that I've had two lots of £25 in 15 years

I have the maximum holding too. The most I've ever won is £1000 but I win a bit most months. I just checked and over the last 6 months my various little wins have totalled £900.

My DD won £5000 earlier this year. That was exciting.

How did you win this morning? There wasn’t a draw today.

Parky04 · 14/11/2024 10:02

I have FH, and my biggest single win was £1000 (a few years ago). I have won £2250.00 so far this year, so probably matching the savings rate.

Hoolahoophop · 14/11/2024 10:03

I've average £250 a month over the last 7 months.

I read the email notification today

TrickorTreacle · 14/11/2024 10:03

I had £3000 invested for 5 years and won dick all.

I gave it up because it affects my UC claim.

Ebabllisstggoffor · 14/11/2024 10:04

£50, I don’t have many bonds. My dad had the top limit, he won £50,000.

ConsternationStation · 14/11/2024 10:07

I've only got £100 invested (a gift many years ago) and have only ever won £25!

IIRC, my In-laws have the maximum invested and win a few hundred a couple of times a year, I think.

BridgetRandomfuck · 14/11/2024 10:20

I've only won £500, but my FIL won 25k last month! He has the full amount of bonds.

Agapornis · 14/11/2024 10:21

I've won about £1750 total in the past year with around £35k. I win something most months.

Nerd alert, I keep a spreadsheet to calculate the interest rate equivalent so I can switch as needed. It's been around 4.7-5.2% for me recently, so similar or higher than most savings products. I've been doing this since early 2021 and the premium bonds rate has been similar or higher for all that time. Obviously the rate is a lot lower when you don't have much in there.

The MSE premium bonds calculator is helpful, too. Basically if you don't have much, it's better off in a normal % account.

And I won 25k in 2023. I have a full holding as does my DH.

Join the PB thread as we report in each month and see how we are all doing.

The value of winnings to us all depends on our own tax rate really as they are tax free. My DS is a higher rate payer, and he uses his other allowances, so his winnings last year were still equivalent to getting 6 percent in a taxable bank account. But that rate would have been very different if he had ISAs or interest allowance unused or was a basic rate tax payer

CrazyCatLady008 · 14/11/2024 10:24

£5k is my highest win, I don't have much in there either.

Yes get yourself on the PB thread @Pippy2022 Smile I would say most months at least one poster wins a lovely sum.

WonderingAboutBabies · 14/11/2024 10:45

Only got around £2k in and have only won twice in a year - £25 and £100.

Millymollywoo · 14/11/2024 10:47
