Hopefully there is a picture attached or this won't make any sense.

DH declares this tea to be perfect. I say it is stewed.

YABU - it is indeed perfect
YANBU - it is stewed

That looks grim as fuck, is your water totally crap??

tangobravo · 11/11/2024 16:36

Whatever it is, it looks foul

Caerulea · 11/11/2024 16:36

I'd say your kettle needs descaling! And no, not stewed but I have my tea super strong with a suggestion of milk

K0OLA1D · 11/11/2024 16:36

You need to descale your kettle

Dotto · 11/11/2024 16:37

Eww, with limescale scum too, get a filter jug.

Singleandproud · 11/11/2024 16:37

That's an abomination.

Looks like its been left to go cold then microwaved.

Get a filter kettle it will up your tea-making game.

Deadringer · 11/11/2024 16:37

The colour of the tea is perfect for me but wtf is that oily looking skin on the top?

MargotEmin · 11/11/2024 16:37

LTB

TomatoSandwiches · 11/11/2024 16:38

The kettle needs cleaning and maybe a filtered jug of water to start?

ThisTeaIsBad · 11/11/2024 16:39

MargotEmin · 11/11/2024 16:37

LTB

To be fair he does have other redeeming features.

It's living in a hard water area that put me off tea. Even using a filter and with a new kettle, it looked like this and always tasted disappointing.

herecomesautumn · 11/11/2024 16:42

I could only tell if it was stewed by tasting it

What's happened to the surface. Was it microwaved?

Octavia64 · 11/11/2024 16:43

That's limescale on the top. Sort your kettle out

PlumViper · 11/11/2024 16:43

something wrong with the milk or just wrong

MrsTerryPratchett · 11/11/2024 16:44

'Weird scum on the top'. Firing offence. Didn't stir.

This thread needs a trigger warning

AmberCrow · 11/11/2024 16:44

That tea, the main part looks an excellent strong colour.
The limescale floating on top would make it undrinkable for me - get a water filter your tea however long you like it brewed will be infinitely better.

Lucked · 11/11/2024 16:45

The colour/strength of the tea is fine but I couldn’t drink that.

Thank God for Scottish water.

🤢🤢 too stewed for me 🤢🤢

Wolfpa · 11/11/2024 16:45

It’s not stewed but you do have a lime scale issue.

amoreoamicizia · 11/11/2024 16:46

You get that film with London water because it's such bad quality.

Cuppachuchu · 11/11/2024 16:48

Too milky and scaly. Not nice at all. 😕

TheDandyLion · 11/11/2024 16:48

Your water has got limescale. The tea is always going to taste awful.

ThisTeaIsBad · 11/11/2024 16:49

We do live in a very hard water area, and the kettle is probably due a descale, however when I make the tea (with the same water and kettle) it does not look like this. The floaty nastiness on top only appears when it has been left too long with the tea bag in it hence for me I associate it with stewed tea.
