Hopefully there is a picture attached or this won't make any sense.

DH declares this tea to be perfect. I say it is stewed.

YABU - it is indeed perfect
YANBU - it is stewed

I'm not sure it's timescale on the top, this looks more like someone's put the milk in and then left it with the bag in to stew for too long

Add the milk first.
Then tea bag, then boiling water and stir like mad.

Try it and report back.

🤢

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 11/11/2024 19:33

Left too long before he put the milk in.

Ewww.
Not only is that stewed- its been stewed too long and then the milk added after (imo thats why it looks weird) that is never the same as milk added when it is hot and then left to sit. Also far too much milk.

JustAboutMuddlingThrough · 11/11/2024 19:38

@Dotto @cardibach lol it's got oat milk in that's why and plus I like my tea strong. I do put more oat milk in my coffee though

Irridescantshimmmer · 11/11/2024 19:40

Thats how I drink tea and it looks delicious.

Grepes · 11/11/2024 19:40

Just clean your kettle!! I live in London and my tea has never looked like that - even when I’ve left the tea bag in and forgotten about it!

As for the milk first suggestion with a tea bag swooshed violently after - sounds as revolting as the picture!!

Freethebees · 11/11/2024 19:42

A lovely cup of care home tea mmmmmmmmmmmm Bromide

bluebalou · 11/11/2024 19:43

Oooh that's bad

Onlyvisiting · 11/11/2024 19:48

You know- I can taste that picture. And it's so rank I felt the need to make a decent cup of tea to take the taste away.
Lancashire tea bags as after diligent testing these are the best. Also I of course used our private water supply as I'm not some sort of pleb who will drink MAINS WATER 😱🤣 as it makes it taste All Wrong. (Tea away from home is a constant disappointment to me tbh).
Please note steam rising, tea should be HOT!

Agree.

I do live in a limescale hotspot but I only ever see this film on the top and scum on the sides when I’ve wandered off halfway through making it and left the bag in for too long before adding milk. Grim.

mathanxiety · 11/11/2024 19:56

Tea was stewed, too much full fat milk was
added, then it was left to go cold.

Barney16 · 11/11/2024 20:01

Colour is perfect. Looks like London tea though. That's why I only drink coffee.

Katemax82 · 11/11/2024 20:03

I live in the south east and my tea always looks like that...sugar tends to break up the scum on top

Foxybyname · 11/11/2024 20:06

Gosh, it looks extremely unappetising doesn't it?! You need to use a water filter OP.

To paraphrase Frank Skinner 'there's a map of the Norfolk Broads on that tea'

lavenderlou · 11/11/2024 20:12

I find my tea can go like this if I leave the teabag in at all. I have to put it in, leave it for 10 seconds then squeeze it out. Most teabags are "instant brew" now so apparently don't need to leave them in. I live in a hard water area but it doesn't get a film on top unless I leave the teabag in.

Jifmicroliquid · 11/11/2024 20:13

Mine does that if I microwave it (having left it to get too cold to drink)

PumpkinScarf · 11/11/2024 20:15

That is an absolutely diabolical cup of tea.

YellowRoom · 11/11/2024 20:26

I used to get this and sorted it by adding the milk first. I don't know the science behind this but it works for me. I have lovely northern water and Ringtons. Southern family have dreadful tea however they make it. I feel very bad for them.

YellowRoom · 11/11/2024 20:28

Oh and I find the worst is where someone has furiously agitated the tea for about 20 seconds so it's simultaneously strong and completely lacking in flavour.

Diversion · 11/11/2024 20:35

Hot tea left to go lukewarm with too much milk!

teatoast8 · 11/11/2024 20:37

This is what a proper cup of tea should look like. This is using bottled watered only cos I still have loads left from work yesterday, but I do usually use tap water (hard water area) and it still looks like this

Nah too strong for me. Has to be milky

Nah milk always last!

By my maths 4 people currently think this is a perfect cup of tea 😱

You have limescale. That doesn’t mean your tea is stewed. We also live in London and tea looks like that any time I use unfiltered water.
