I never used to be like this
I am 47 and just taken a new role that is leaving me almost paralysed with my inability to do stuff
Simple stuff like sending emails and making decisions
We predominantly work remotely and so send so many teams and emails that I barely have time to go to the loo.
I have big events next week and just so worried about not being able to perform

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 07/11/2024 18:37

Medication.

Treacletoots · 07/11/2024 18:37

Sounds like perimenopause OP. Exactly the same here.

hRT, sertraline, daily exercise and cognitive therapy helps.

Wolfiefan · 07/11/2024 18:39

Prozac
CBT
Exercise.
Time spent outside each day
Mindfulness.

WhatASadLittleLifeJayne · 07/11/2024 18:40

• medication
• change of circumstances
• nature
• singing (so much research on this and genuinely helped me come off my meds)
• exercise

Probably in that order!

StrawberrySquash · 07/11/2024 19:19

Breathing exercises and yoga

newjobregrets · 07/11/2024 22:40

newjobregrets · 08/11/2024 18:03

Propanolol
Ashgwanda - this is quite good. I think it varies as to quality.
Seeing and feeling fresh air, nature, a walk.
Rescue remedy pastils for ten mins calm down and a few rescue remedy drops when getting shaky.

Just chatting to people.
To do lists.
Escape!

Yoga little bit every day

ThatGladTiger · 08/11/2024 18:43

Everyone has given you some great advice.

Have you looked as what you could also do regarding f the cause?Arrange meetings for 25 or 55 mins. I found I could have back to back meetings and like you not have time to go to the loo or make a cuppa.

Suddenly I’m seeing more people do this. Or block out time in your diary and be strict with it.

95percentcocoa · 08/11/2024 22:08

Proprananol

Boohbooh · 08/11/2024 22:14

I think you should visit your GP and have a chat with them. Everyone is different. I had crippling anxiety daily and an antidepressant really helped, but it might be something different for you. A chat with a doctor should start you on the right road to recovery.

autienotnaughty · 09/11/2024 07:44

Exercise
Fresh air
Yoga
Hypnotherapy
CBT
Mindfulness/meditation

All helped me hugely. I wouldn't recommend getting a dog as the stress of training won't help.

newjobregrets · 09/11/2024 20:55

I could’ve wrote this. I’m paralysed with fear at online meetings as I have to screen share and write notes with everyone looking! Yesterday I went to the dr and have been signed off. Going to use the time going to the gym and looking for another job. I’ve had it with throwing up every morning and dreading weekdays.
