I mean, seriously, hasn't musk done enough damage for one century? There are so many social media platforms to choose from. So, why stick with x/twatter? The only "free" speech you are going to get there is if you agree with trump-musk

I love X.

I've found if I want to complain about service the best way to get a response is to use Twitter/X

Parky04 · 06/11/2024 17:05

Love Twitter. The videos doing the rounds today are glorious!

Cynic17 · 06/11/2024 17:05

Because you can be selective about who you follow. My feed is mainly sports and arts - all lively stuff, no politics, no abusive comments, and I have actually met some really nice people. And it's quick and easy to use.

TheNoonBell · 06/11/2024 17:13

Less censorship and actual footage of events that gets taken down elsewhere.

I prefer to see what actually happened rather than have the main stream media filter and provide context for me.

I never claimed to be a liberal. Is that why you love twatter so much, because nobody cares if you tell the truth?

@FrostFlowers2025 did you use it in the past?

Dweetfidilove · 06/11/2024 20:21

Been off for 2 years.

MyNameIsSharon · 06/11/2024 20:31

Gary Barlow's massive son is keeping me on it the moment.

Jmaho · 06/11/2024 20:38

What's with all the virtue signalling posts lately? Can people honestly not handle differences in opinion anymore? How do you people get on in real life?
I work with such a mix of people of all different races, religions, ages. We all have different home set ups and different lived experiences. We very much have different opinions on politics and religion. I can share a similar opinion to a colleague or one point and strongly oppose abother view in the next breath. We all still get on and work together as a team and we can agree to disagree. Tolerance is needed. Stop trying to censor freedom of speech!
Oh and I'm a fan of X but not a fascist nazi genocide lover zionist or whatever the latest insults are. Will happily take the terf slur though

fabricstash · 06/11/2024 20:40

I use it and mute block a lot of people. I follow loads of art accounts, women's rights accounts and my favourite journalists. I prefer it to Facebook /intstagram and have never done TikTok

Yes, but I deleted my account over a decade ago. I hated the antagonistic atmosphere I saw on there so frequently.

To see David Lammy getting trolled for congratulating Trump after his 2017 comments. It’s a fucking car crash but I can’t look away.

I see

i don't tend to look beyond my uses. There were times when the people I follow went all political and I had a massive cull - not because of agreeing or not but because I don't want to hear politics on there, I use it for fun.

I think those of us using it for hobbies and fun stuff are having a very different experience. I'm often told by other people that they saw a horrific thing there and I'll have no idea about it.

I think for people who want social media to have a look around and see what's new, it's a very different experience.

back in the day, I even had drinks with people I met there. That does seem unlikely now but I did see a bunch of Swifties who I chat to who had a small gathering before the London concerts. An oomfchella! So the fun is still there.

Hellisemptyallthdevilsarehere · 06/11/2024 20:56

Follow what you want to see. Edutwitter for example is not at all like the general descriptions made on here. It's informative and supportive. Even when there are differences of opinion, I've only seen well articulated views without any sort of attack.

INeedAnotherName · 06/11/2024 21:22

Businesses used to be on Facebook but then they emigrated to Twitter. Where are the businesses going to next?

I don't have Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tiktok and rarely go on FB - maybe once a year. But I do seem to live on this place Blush

FrostFlowers2025 · 07/11/2024 10:45

The result of the poll surprised me. From the replies I was sure I would get a near 100% YABU or art least over 80%.

But yeah, I have no love for social media as a whole and even less so for anything musk-owned. I hope we will well eventually get rid of social media as I believe it's making us less social, more antagonistic and more lonely as a species.

But where would I watch people's funny farm videos😭

TheGoddessFrigg · 07/11/2024 11:36

I know what you mean- because I just h8 Elon Musk so so much. Some of the comments leading up to the elections have been utterly vile- this is not 'liberal tears;', I mean more like every post having 'f*ggot' on there, or 'J3w' or even the n word. That's not a Freedom of Speech hill I'm willing to die on
