Haven't been into one of these hellholes for months now since they upped their prices to ridiculous stupid levels.

Just came back from an airport run and the kids were nagging for one so I agreed...

Restaurant packed with young lads on Deliveroo bikes so went through the drive thru. Had to wait about 20 minutes to be served, told to park up in a tiny packed car park, another 15 mins they come out with the wrong food so my son had to run back in and get it changed 🙄

But... worst thing is on their app they are selling these party kits for £6.50 😳
Some flimsy paper hats, flags and some colouring sheets which used to be FREE.

Please please tell me nobody is THAT stupid?
The mind boggles.

£6.50 for activities for 8 kids doesn’t seem bad.

But they used to be free? Colouring sheets and a hat were all part of the experience that you paid for? Same as any pub, they always ran over to the kids with a colouring sheet and some little crayons.
£6.50 is nothing short of robbery!
These places are profiteering enough as it is, they are treating their customers with contempt. Can people not see this?

Isn't that for a party? Not just for your 2 children while st mcdonalds

ChefsKisser · 27/10/2024 17:22

Meh I agree consumerism has gone wild but £6.50 for 8 kids really doesn’t seem that bad to me either.

doodleschnoodle · 27/10/2024 17:22

You still get colouring sheets and things though? Our local McDs has sheets and crayons, Is this not just an extra thing for a more organised 'party', if you're bringing a bunch of kids to McDonalds after a trip or something?

When I pop in my with kids we aren't generally in the market for party headbands and games, but if I were bringing a bunch of kids as part of a party if we'd all been trampolining or something I might?

McDonald’s exists to make a profit.

My kids are teenagers so they are only interested in the food!

I just saw this browsing through the app.

YABU they have produced these and added a box, you can’t get anything that cheap anywhere else, I forsee students buying them

SwingTheMonkey · 27/10/2024 17:28

£6.50 seems perfectly acceptable for a box of party games and props for 8 children…

TiredGoingToBed · 27/10/2024 17:28

Id buy them for adults 😆😆

whatsthatwordagainfeet · 27/10/2024 17:29

I wish they would bring back the proper parties, one of my favourite childhood memories is my 6th birthday McDonald’s party 😅❤️

Haven't you always had to pay if you want an official party at Maccyds - if you want tables reserved that is?
This seems to be paying for the same thing just without staff having to host it.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/10/2024 17:35

I suppose it is 'robbery' if you're a proper communist and all property is theft. I respect that. But if you're not, it's just capitalism, they aren't a charity. Buy it or not. I don't.

SweetSakura · 27/10/2024 17:36

Its not obligatory to buy them though?

McDonald’s prices haven’t increased hugely in the last couple of years where others have (cough cough Dominos 👀) and they still do their saver menu, so fair enough if they are wanting to recoup their money elsewhere.

MartinCrieffsLemon · 27/10/2024 17:40

It's a party kit. For parties

Colouring sheets and things are still available inside

What's with the current MN posts of people expecting companies to give everything for free?

Seems perfectly reasonable. There's a financial and environmental cost in producing these so why should they be free?

I imagine it’s probably people ordering it via uber eats for parties/sleepovers.

The saver menu is a tiny burger and medium fries... that would have cost you £2.50 a couple of years ago.

People have short memories....

I remember the days of McDonald’s birthday parties.

The saver burgers really aren't that small and are perfect as a light bite... and they cost less than £2.50

They also do lots of deals like the £5 burger, fries, drink and nuggets. Or 3 for £3

Needmorelego · 27/10/2024 17:48

@Holidaysarecomingocthalfterm exactly. Want a party in the restaurant - pay for staff to reserve tables and provide hats or whatever.
Want a party at home - pay for this box.

rosesinmygarden · 27/10/2024 17:49

It doesn't sound like you're going to buy it, or visit one of their restaurants/'hellholes' regularly so I'm confused why you're so angry about it.

Don't buy it. Don't visit McDonalds. Easy fix.

I don't think it's bad value. They are a business. They exist to sell things for a profit. 🤷‍♀️

leafybrew · 27/10/2024 17:49

Hehe

Get over it or don’t go to Maccies. I’m not ‘shocked’ by their prices 🙄

Its cheap food - not a Michelin starred restaurant
