Haven't been into one of these hellholes for months now since they upped their prices to ridiculous stupid levels.

Just came back from an airport run and the kids were nagging for one so I agreed...

Restaurant packed with young lads on Deliveroo bikes so went through the drive thru. Had to wait about 20 minutes to be served, told to park up in a tiny packed car park, another 15 mins they come out with the wrong food so my son had to run back in and get it changed 🙄

But... worst thing is on their app they are selling these party kits for £6.50 😳
Some flimsy paper hats, flags and some colouring sheets which used to be FREE.

Please please tell me nobody is THAT stupid?
The mind boggles.

McDonalds party kit £6.50 !!!

I don't think McD's is that bad for price, but we went to KFC to break up a long road trip last week and it cost an arm and a leg!

I think you mean a wing and a drumstick 😂

Mcdonalds still do free crayons and activity sheets though, our local one has a staff member doing facepainting and craft activities all day Sat and Sun. Can't really knock that to be fair. This kit is clearly for at home parties and is handy for a last minute gathering. The price has gone up but not out of line with everything else recently.

Needmorelego · 27/10/2024 18:05

@FedupMum2024 whatever you do - don't go to Burger King.
You'll need to take out a bank loan.

Bournetilly · 27/10/2024 18:10

I think this is fine. They still do colouring sheets, paper hats and balloons if you go inside. You could go and take 8 colouring sheets if you really wanted. This is just a box to take away with some party things for 8 children.

I wish they would bring back the proper parties, one of my favourite childhood memories is my 6th birthday McDonald’s party 😅❤️

@whatsthatwordagainfeet did you get the tour of the kitchen and a chance to grill your own burger and served milkshake? Ours also had hamburger seats and a little play equipment. I miss the 80's.

Needmorelego · 27/10/2024 18:15

@TheGreatScotchEggControversy tour of the kitchen and pretending to lock us in the freezer 😂

ShamblesRock · 27/10/2024 18:16

My McDonald's is winging its way to me right now, missed a trick with this.

Alas DH doesn't really like McD's, he goes to an ice hockey match, we have McDonald's for tea. The service station is great, he has Burger King, I have KFC.

GhosterPoster · 27/10/2024 18:17

I think that’s immensely cheap for a kids party.

Don't agree? Don’t buy it.

FrowntonAbbey · 27/10/2024 18:19

Don’t buy one then.

I would have said the same a few years ago, but not since I've been to Five Guys 😱

Floralnomad · 27/10/2024 18:23

I think you are scraping the bottom of the barrel to find a complaint . If you don’t like McDonald’s don’t go there .

Needmorelego · 27/10/2024 18:24

@SocksAndTheCity thankfully I have managed to avoid Five Guys.
I have apparently agreed to go to Nandos this half term.....££££

Washingtononian · 27/10/2024 18:25

If you don’t like it don’t go, I still think it’s a pretty cheap lunch if I’m out with my 2 primary aged kids and they love it! I can definitely see me taking 8 kids there after soft play for a party and buying the kit.

The saver menu is a tiny burger and medium fries... that would have cost you £2.50 a couple of years ago.

People have short memories....

I know it is fashionable in certain quarters to consider McDonalds the spawn of the Devil, but I doubt even they lack the clout to engineer Covid, or the warmongering of Putin. As we all know, costs and therefore prices have risen massively in the last four years, both for food and energy. Restaurant prices have gone up an awful lot, and McDonalds are not immune from this.

If you don't want it, you don't have to buy it. Walk on by.

There's a blast from the past....... I went on a tour with the girl guides. Oh, the excitement! I may have boasted about it at school Blush.

TroysMammy · 27/10/2024 18:40

FedupMum2024 · 27/10/2024 17:20

But they used to be free? Colouring sheets and a hat were all part of the experience that you paid for? Same as any pub, they always ran over to the kids with a colouring sheet and some little crayons.
£6.50 is nothing short of robbery!
These places are profiteering enough as it is, they are treating their customers with contempt. Can people not see this?

I know I looked young for my age but I was really put out when I was given a colouring in sheet and crayons when we went out for a pub meal. I was 16 years old!

Livelovebehappy · 27/10/2024 18:42

I think maybe you’re projecting the fact that you hate McDonald’s, and picking on this issue, which tbh isn’t really that bad. A lot of snobbery on MN about mcd’s, but my kids used to absolutely love it, and there’s no harm in an occasional fast food treat. Not all children are happy with a carrot stick and a box of raisins for lunch….there’s got to be some joy in life.

RunningOutOfImaginitiveUsernames · 27/10/2024 18:44

That is so cheap for a party pack for 8, especially including some games. You only mentioned hats, flags and colouring sheets. Which you'd still find hard to get for 8 kids at that price anywhere else, never mind with the wee games that will entertain them.

I think the problem here is that your kids are teens and you've no idea how much party stuff costs these days.

Do you think McDonalds is somehow immune to inflation?

SleepingStandingUp · 27/10/2024 18:51

You want them to come running out to the cars with colouring in sheets and balloons? My understanding was they're aimed at people getting take out and probably more likely a special one than a quick Friday night lazy grab
