to hate my husband when I'm on my period?

Obviously I'm not being reasonable but does anyone else experience this?

I get so angry when I'm on / due on. Everything H does winds me up, I honestly come close to asking for divorce every time and then when it's over we are fine again.

I thought it was a well known thing that the type of man a woman finds attractive varies with where she is in her cycle?

When she isn't ovulating, a chiseled jaw, and broad shoulders are appealing, however when ovulating, an axe in the forehead and a baseball bat shoved up his arse will do.

Notparticularlywealthy · 24/10/2024 20:02

Sounds like PMDD. I'm currently in the middle of it and have had to fight the urge to make seriously nasty comments or physically hurt my nearest and dearest several times today alone.

Notparticularlywealthy · 24/10/2024 20:04

@HappiestSleeping well done for making light of violence and mocking women's reproductive health issues in one go. Slow handclap for you...

ETA what you're saying doesn't even make sense. Evolution has not made it so women hate their partners when they're fertile, that makes no sense

Ibloodylovetea · 24/10/2024 20:05

I never suffered from PMS etc. But my DH tells me that he used to mark his ex DW's periods in the calendar as she became 'evil' (as he describes it) so that he could take the kids out & leave her to get on with it. He says that he did his best to support her, but apparently she became very angry & generally not a nice person for a few days. He says he learned to get on with it & to get him & the kids out of her way.

betterangels · 24/10/2024 20:07

I purposely see as few people as possible during that time. If I lived with someone, I'd feel like you.

Sorry. It's shit.

MintCrab · 24/10/2024 20:15

how long have you been married?
you and he have discussed this ?

YourTwinklyDeer · 24/10/2024 20:21

I feel like this!

It was supposed to be a joke, but I guess humour isn't allowed these days.

violentovulation · 24/10/2024 20:24

Men are irritating at the best of times, it's no wonder he gets on your nerves when you're close to your period. Make him sleep outside until you can bear him again.

I found it hysterical 🤣 and very, very appropriate.

AltitudeCheck · 24/10/2024 20:27

I can 100% relate. It got much, much worse in my early 40s but has thankfully settled a lot in the last few years... that could be hormones, or because I have checked out to a degree and just get on with my own thing/ own friends a lot more!

I could go from being adamant I was leaving him and a week later we'd be getting on just fine!

ZaraCC · 24/10/2024 20:28

For me, the only thing that worked for PMS was sertline. It is an anti depressant but it is the only thing that gets me through my period.

Nope. I have PMDD and it is ruining my life. And yes, I am feeling hormonal right now. HTH.

Don't be pathetic. Your comment wasn't funny. I have PMDD and it's ruining my life. Anything for a laugh though I suppose

What do you have again? I didn’t quite catch it…

Have a read through the symptoms etc on the Mind website. It can really creep up on you, à la boiling frog. I used to be mostly alright but now the symptoms start at least 10 days before my period is due. You deserve not to feel like absolute garbage.

Foy19 · 24/10/2024 21:12

Yes, most months. Likely PMDD.

Also - check your blood pressure. Mine was high anyway but got worse just before and during my period. Going on blood pressure medication has not only lowered my bp to a normal level, but has also reduced my PMDD symptoms which included feeling suicidal/suicidal thoughts.
