Help! I took too much Dulcolax!

Oh good lord I feel awful! I've been taking co-codamol for acute pain from an injury and have been feeling so blocked up. I took a dulcolax this morning but nothing happened. I can't actually remember if I took one last night or not but seeing as nothing had happened, I took another 2 after dinner today as thought maybe I just needed a stronger dose. And oh my gosh do I regret that! I'm now stuck on the toilet feeling like I've taken that colonoscopy prep stuff! There's nothing I can do now but wait it out is there? I'm such an idiot! I won't be doing that again!!

Shit!

MeMyCatsAndI · 17/10/2024 19:26

😂😂 you'll be fine just make sure you hydrate.

Gummybear23 · 17/10/2024 19:25

Shit!

Well yes🤣🤣

BabyCloud · 17/10/2024 19:26

Shit it all out and keep yourself hydrated.

UpUpUpU · 17/10/2024 19:26

I feel your pain OP!

Newterm · 17/10/2024 19:27

Have some diolyte. You may end up properly dehydrated after this

DulcolaxHell · 17/10/2024 19:29

Thankfully DH has passed my water bottle into the bathroom for me. Ugh.

Tooty78 · 17/10/2024 19:31

And don't forget the Sudocrem or Drapolene for your sore bum😬

JC03745 · 17/10/2024 19:31

If its really bad, you could take a dioralyte sachet, otherwise, just keep hydrated as others have said. It too shall pass 😊

Hoardasurass · 17/10/2024 19:34

Imodium is your friend it will help bung you back up quite quickly

DulcolaxHell · 17/10/2024 19:48

Sudocrem is a brilliant idea, thanks! I think I used that when I had a colonoscopy years ago. I'm reluctant to take any more meds, the reason I'm in this boat is trying to counteract med side effects.

Never tried ducolax, but highly recommend not having a double dose of lactulose and a full glass of prune juice straight after!! That was the first night my Sisters ex bf stayed over. It was NOT a fun night for me!! 😂 Even worse after practically shitting out the entire contents of my body that night. I lost a grand total of fuck all the following day when I got weighed.

ladyditaverner · 17/10/2024 20:00

Better out than in I guess

Objectpersonification · 17/10/2024 20:00

When it’s all over you’ll feeling amazing though! I’m on movicol and sometimes take 2 extra sachets for a really
good clear out and I feel so amazing the day after it’s worth the few hours on the toilet

Oh gosh that sounds rough. How rubbish that your weight stayed the same too! On the 2 occasions I've had moviprep I've dropped a little weight but obviously immediately put it back on once I started eating again.

I didn’t shit for 13 days after my section and downed so much lactulose on day 11.

my poor neighbours heard my gutteral moans as I descended into a new circle of hell.

forgotmypassagain · 17/10/2024 20:05

12 days not 13. It took a day to kick in and my god did it kick in*

soraya · 17/10/2024 20:06

try taking immodium to counter it.

Laurensorrenson · 17/10/2024 20:07

Enjoy it, it's nice to have a bloody good clear out.

Itsdefinitelytimeforanamechange · 17/10/2024 20:08

If it’s really bad I would wear a sanitary towel / pad tonight just in case!

Irridescantshimmmer · 17/10/2024 20:10

Eat foods with banana, rice, rice pudding and bread/toast...... but don't go too beserk just in case it clogs you up. So reduce these foods once you are back to normal.

All the foods above slow down intestinal traffic, which should help.

You'll be feeling more than a bit knackered so keep your fluids up and do your best to stay hydrated.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

LadyWiddiothethird · 17/10/2024 20:10

When I was nursing,we used to say,if you think the bottoms fallen out of your world, take 2 Dulcolax and the world will fall out of your bottom.

This will pass OP,keep hydrated.

girlofsandwich · 17/10/2024 20:15

Been there, horrible, the cramps and sweats were a killer! Watch something nice on your phone and drink lots. At least it's not in the middle of the night when you're falling asleep on the loo! It should ease up anyways soon and you'll be able to lie in bed and get up as needed. All the best OP.

MakeItRain26 · 17/10/2024 20:22

I did this once on holiday in Spain when I misread the label! I thought I had bought dulcoease which is the weaker stuff and happily took two. It ended up coming out of both ends 🤢🫠

NooNakedJacuzziness · 17/10/2024 20:27

Oh the cramps - I thought I was about to give birth!! Best of British OP
