Has anyone gone back to ebay as its now free to list?
Can you sell anything on Vinted or just clothes?
Has Vinted overtaken Ebay now?

I never left ebay and I've never used vinted

ForKeenLimeOtter · 02/10/2024 21:57

eBay is much better for buyers. You have protection if there are issues. Vinted is a bit of a cowboy outfit - I've still had loads of bargains on there but if things go wrong Vinted are no help!

eBay is still far far bigger than Vinted and great if you want to sell internationally.

ForKeenLimeOtter · 02/10/2024 21:58

Vinted moving into electronics etc, is asking for trouble. They can't resolve issues around cheap clothes so not sure I would ever buy expensive electronics on there. You would have no protection if things go wrong.

OrigamiOwls · 02/10/2024 22:00

I only use Vinted now.

girlfriend44 · 02/10/2024 22:01

I guess ebay have had to it make it free to compete with vinted and marketplace.
The person who started ebay is a billionaire so hasn't done too badly out of it.

Never left it, Vinted is an overpriced cesspit.

girlfriend44 · 03/10/2024 00:36

Is it only clothes you can sell on Vinted?

No, you can sell all sorts of things on there

thebigL · 03/10/2024 10:09

I never left eBay. Haven't heard good things about Vinted.

Arlanymor · 03/10/2024 10:09

I'm still with eBay but haven't sold anything on there in about four years - but going to have a clear out before Christmas now that the free listings have begun. I'm having to pay for a new clutch so that's going to eradicate a big chunk of money that I'd like to replace before the end of the year. Also have a 100% rating on eBay so might as well utilise it.

Cable1905 · 03/10/2024 10:12

I have returned to buying clothes on eBay. It seems to have adopted some ideas from Vinted but in a more user friendly system. Vinted just seems chaotic with so much rubbish which can be hard to avoid.

TeamPolin · 03/10/2024 10:27

I'm still on Vinted. I find it an easier site to navigate. EBay's site just feels cluttered and less user friendly.

Freakydeak · 03/10/2024 10:36

I've used vinted a bit but increasingly feeling scammed as a buyer and little by way of support or protection so won't be using it anymore.

LittleLlama · 03/10/2024 10:41

I am still with Vinted, for buying and selling (just clothes). I find the site better to use, cheaper to buy (especially bundles) and easier for posting.

Teanbiscuits33 · 03/10/2024 10:44

I don’t use eBay for selling anymore because it’s all for buyers and no seller protection, and buying wise it’s full of Chinese junk and misleading pricing. I used to like it back in the day when it was mainly private sellers and auctions, with a few business shops.

HashtagShitShop · 03/10/2024 10:57

Vinted is getting worse with its no protection for anyone. Buyers pay protection but don't get help when there's issues and sellers are left high and dry if there's an issue. I've heard about three items just this last week that went missing for different sellers/buyers during the posting as it got lost by couriers and only the buyer got a refund, the sellers got ignored when messaged and then all that "I'm sorry you're not happy with our resolution." messages repeatedly with no help or refund so they lost their item, the money and the postage to send it.

I had an item never leave the lockers as the buyer. Evri admitted it was lost 2 weeks in (mid August) and to get in touch with vinted. Vinted said it would be come to an end by the 6th Sept and I could tell them it wouldn't arrive and they'd take it from there by the 8th Sept they still hadn't updated the sale to allow that to happen. It took 7 weeks in total (with me having to prompt them to update the sale) for them to accept it hadn't arrived and refund me. Hopefully the seller got a refund too.

As an rm user it can take 6 weeks post sale for you to get your payment too if you buyer doesn't play fair and mark as received which is really shitty when I send out same day so they get it within 2 or 3 says of purchase but I have to wait a month and half for the money when tracking shows it's delivered but vinted to accept that as its not integrated.

Ebay things have gone missing but there's a lot better service as both a seller and a buyer imo and the buyers mess around less (ie offers are paid for when accepted, you can auto set an offer amount so low offers don't come through, scheduled listing times etc etc.

I do only send via trackable means though after being burnt several times way back when people would claim it hadn't arrived only to relist it themselves when they got the refund through.

polkadotpixie · 03/10/2024 11:38

I much prefer Vinted. I only use eBay now for things not permitted on Vinted

SickOfThisSht · 03/10/2024 11:48

Use Vinted almost exclusively now as their shipping process is so much simpler than eBay and eBay just seems like any other marketplace with all the new plastic tat listed, it’s hard to find things I actually want/need or trust it’s been shipped/when it’s shipped etc. But I mostly use Vinted to buy/sell clothes at low value so it’s fairly low risk personally.

Verv · 03/10/2024 11:51

Ive always stayed on ebay, used vinted a few times but i find it harder to navigate and it doesnt give you the option to auto decline mad offers.

girlfriend44 · 03/10/2024 00:36

No ... I bought two desk legs off Vinted and the other two of marketplace !

lhatemonopoly · 03/10/2024 12:17

Has the buyers fee on Vinted gone up? Bought an item a few years ago which l was pleased with, and thought back then that if an item was only £1 the fee was less than 50p. Had a look again and it seems to vary, but some £1 items had a fee of about 75p which is a huge percentage to charge. lt was less on some items though.
l have always bought & sold on ebay. l have considered selling some low value items on Vinted but can only use royal mail at the moment which l think would make my listings less attractive, and don't want to potentially wait weeks for payment.

TheFormidableMrsC · 03/10/2024 16:34

I use both but I have to say, things that used to fly on eBay now just sit there without views so I put most of my stuff on Vinted. It's much easier to use and postage is organised by buyer.

Makingchocolatecake · 03/10/2024 21:43

I've started using fb marketplace but would go back to ebay as less timewasters.

Ladyof2024 · 03/10/2024 21:51

I don't understand what eBay gets out of letting us list all our things for free now and not taking any final value fee. Where are they making their money from us then?
