To think public teeth cleaning is gross

Ok so if you're on a long flight and at a transit airport maybe you have no choice except to use a bathroom with people around

BUT if you're staying in someone's house why would you walk around the living room and kitchen cleaning your teeth and trying to talk at the same time???

ThinWomansBrain · 28/09/2024 09:22

I wouldn't.

vincettenoir · 28/09/2024 09:53

It wouldn’t bother me. So I’m guessing your guest doesn’t see anything wrong in it and so that’s why they are uninhibited to do it. If they stay a lot maybe mention it. If they don’t stay over much then I’d just suck it up.

Talipesmum · 28/09/2024 09:56

I don’t find it gross at all, unless they’re dribbling toothpaste everywhere. Plenty of people brush their teeth without dripping toothpaste around. I wouldn’t think anything of it if a guest did that in my house, or if I saw someone brushing their teeth in a public bathroom.

Lamelie · 28/09/2024 10:05

Oo! It’d set my teeth on edge.

Oldraver · 28/09/2024 10:20

I would find it gross

OH walks around locking up while cleaning his teeth and it grosses me out

A friend out to dinner once got floss out at the table, I was gobsmacked

Berlinlover · 28/09/2024 10:26

When you say cleaning teeth do you mean brushing or flossing?

UnctuousUnicorns · 28/09/2024 10:26

Agreed. Imo teeth cleaning is a private activity, to be done behind a closed bathroom door. I've.had to order our teenage DD back into the bathroom if she's gone wandering. She's got the message now, and stays in the bathroom.

MimiGC · 28/09/2024 10:48

Well, some people can clean their teeth without dribbling toothpaste, but still I would never expect to see someone wander around anywhere but their own home. Personally, I dribble toothpaste every time and so I don't step two inches away from the bathroom sink .

Didimum · 28/09/2024 11:00

That’s not public though. They’re in their house.

Phase2 · 28/09/2024 11:05

I hate it. Kids wander round the house gormlessly brushing and I send them back. House is ruined enough by their laziness without flecks of spit everywhere thanks.
As for tooth picks at tables 🤮

DillDanding · 28/09/2024 11:11

I think it’s gross. But I can beat that. we have a friend (incredibly well to-do) who gets out a floss pick at the dinner table (at home or in a restaurant). 🤢

SocksShmocks · 28/09/2024 11:13

Yes I’d find it gross. Why not stay in the bathroom to brush your teeth. It only takes a few minutes and really you need to be looking in the mirror to do it properly.

BoobyDazzler · 28/09/2024 11:13

In their home I wouldn’t but I probably would if I were staying in a holiday let, or camping with them.

Thankfully, I don’t think I have any friends that would give a shit.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 28/09/2024 11:13

I've seen someone flossing on a communal table in an office after he'd eaten.

It was disgusting.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 28/09/2024 11:14

Doesn't bother me (plenty of things do!), husband can't tolerate it.

OriginalUsername2 · 28/09/2024 11:16

Horrible. I can’t stand the smell or the sight.

(This is something that seems to happens in every film too - why the teeth brushing scenes?!😩It makes me want to gag.)

Booksandflowers · 28/09/2024 11:34

There’s something about teeth cleaning that makes me not want to see others doing it. Can’t even bear it on tv when people are brushing teeth so no, I wouldn’t like it.

Oh, my queasy stomach. 🤢

AutumnTimeForCosy24 · 28/09/2024 12:26

I wouldn't do it because I'm a dribbler.

but as long as they're not dribbling on my carpet I couldn't GAF

Fizbosshoes · 28/09/2024 12:27

I sat next to a man on the train once who used the interdental brushes to clean his teeth ! It was not an enjoyable journey

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 28/09/2024 12:32

He had some of those floss picks.

Why he thought that was acceptable on the table I don’t know. No one said a thing and it wasn’t my regular place of work so I didn’t say anything either.

CoughForWeeks · 28/09/2024 14:02

It was brushing.

I have a friend who toothpicks at the table too.

Maybe I have gross friends?

Doesn’t both me in the slightest, but then I’m a dentist🤣

AgnesX · 28/09/2024 14:04

I thought you were talking about flossing on the 06.40 to Euston.
