To ask what I should watch?

I'm terrible at watching TV, especially finding something new. I have a poor attention span and always double screen. DH out tonight and I want to watch something with my dinner, something lighthearted, funny and feel good with half hour long each episodes.

For example I like this country, Ghosts, fleabag, what we do in the shadows, motherland. I have seen most of the classics like father ted, ab fab, peep show etc. I keep seeing colin from accounts pop up, is it any good? I don't like cringe comedy, for example that not going out show which often seems get prime time on a Friday night, or Mrs brown's boys.

Would love some ideas!

Try workin Moms or friend from college on Netflix

FourEyesGood · 13/09/2024 19:45

I love the programmes you listed, and really enjoyed Colin From Accounts, so give it a go! Have you seen Flight of the Conchords? I think you might like that.

ILostMyself · 13/09/2024 19:45

The IT Crowd? ‘People Just do nothing’ is v funny too (filmed mockumentary style)

If you like American then highly recommend ‘modern family’ and the American office. Both hilarious and easy to watch half an hour episodes

Kentuckycriedfrickin · 13/09/2024 19:47

Kaos on Netflix, it's a retelling of greek myths/gods. Jeff Goldblum is Zeus, Billie Piper is Cassandra, it's so chaotic. I'm three episodes in and really enjoying it.

Bouncynuggets · 13/09/2024 19:48

Colin from Accounts is good. Its standard Aussie humour, same as Fisk on itvx.

Or watch Toast.

Thanks, see those and I would prefer British to American. I haven't watched modern family but I do hear a lot about it

Have you heard of Mum? Lesley Mannville stars & the writing is funny but also moving.
Others we like are Two Doors Down, W1A, TwentyTwelve & Rev. All BBC so should be on iPlayer. We haven't seen Colin from Accounts series 2 yet but enjoyed the 1st series.
I don't think you can get The Kennedys (Katharine Parkinson) but have a look - one of our favourites.
Hope you find something you like!

Arlanymor · 13/09/2024 19:54

Hullraisers - Channel 4 on demand, it’s brilliant, also two seasons to chew through!

Barneysmomma · 13/09/2024 19:54

Another vote for Hullraisers - made us laugh out loud!

Prinnny · 13/09/2024 19:55

Motherland? Or that new thing on sky from the makers of brassic they’re only 30mins.

American is indeed absolute toss, but Aussie is similar to ours. Deadpan, natural, sweary.

I reckon you'd love Colin, or Fisk.

CaveMum · 13/09/2024 20:01

Motherland is brilliant.

We’ve just started Kaos on Netflix.

If you like Ghosts maybe try Yonderland from the same team, though I don’t know where it is available.

If you want “real life” and funny rather than sit-com try Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing or even old series of Taskmaster.

Taskmaster is a bit of a ritual in our house 😂 though we missed it last night but Dh might be peeved if i watch it without him

Friday Night Dinner
Breeders
Workin Moms

mononymous · 13/09/2024 20:17

Loudermilk on Netflix

Bouncynuggets · 13/09/2024 20:17

OP, just thought of Murder in Successville - its so random and is brilliant. Try the Jamie Laing one first. Vicky Pattison is good too.

Peep Show

Toast of London

EscapeTheCastle · 13/09/2024 20:19

I would like to recommend Daddy Issues on BBC iplayer.
It's really funny.

Hmm haven't heard of that one

Colin from Accounts is great, and it’s on IPlayer
Ted Lasso - Apple TV I think
Only Murders in the Building (Disney plus)
Modern Family
New Girl
Gavin and Stacey

Totally Completely Fine on ITVX - quite a dark comedy but very funny
