No, not a normal nappy, they’re not waterproof and will disintegrate. Lots of pools have a double nappy policy, so that would usually be a swim nappy and a happy nappy; to avoid incidents like the one mentioned above!

Run it under a tap and see what happens. It doesn't expand to hold wee. It will only act as a poo catcher!

Put a neoprene pair of bottoms over it to help keep everything 'in' And get out and change if they have a poo.

Normal nappies have an absorbent polymer that swells up as it sucks up the liquid. Swim nappies do not have that, they're usually made from neoprene. They won't keep the wee in, but they should contain a poo.

No a normal nappy will expand and eventually burst, if you could use a normal nappy for swimming there would be no need for a swimming nappy.

Lots of places require two nappies. You wouldn’t use a normal nappy though as that would be pretty useless when wet. Use a swim nappy with a happy nappy over the top.

swim nappies just hold poo not wee. So they don’t expand. If your child hasn’t pooed in the swim nappy, just rinse them out and reuse.

But either way you do need to take them out of the pool and change them as soon as they've done a poo. The neoprene/happy nappy is just an extra layer of protection against poonamis

And if you're like me..you don't pull the swim nappy down after use - you just tear the sides and remove like a normal nappy ;-)

I would double the advice of 'if they poo in the pool in the swim nappy, get out straight away'. They're not waterproof round the legs and by the time you get back to the changing are, it will already be dripping poo coloured water. I only did it once and then decided that swimming could wait a year!

Swim nappy plus neoprene layer. Swim nappies alone are pretty rubbish- it’s the tight neoprene that actually contains things.

last time I was at center parcs I could see a fair number of little ones in normal nappies which made me very much want to exit the splash area. You can see them swelling up massively which not only looks uncomfortable but means they’re basically useless.

You need disposable swim nappy (the one you've got) then a happy nappy (tight swim nappy made of swimsuit material) then swimsuit on top.

I usually went for a disposable swim nappy with a washable swim nappy on top, although i quickly found that mine never pooed at swimming, possible because i never took them in the hour or so after a meal.

By about 18m i didn't bother with the disposable & just used washable swim nappies.

If you think they're both the same, do a 15 min cycle in the washing machine with each 😂 start with the swim nappy though
