To ask what are your bank holiday plans?

Tomorrow is the last bank holiday until Christmas!

I think there's always a bit of pressure to make the most of it as it also signifies the beginning of the end of summer.

I'm looking for inspiration. What is everyone planning to do?

Just had a long walk and a pub roast- I was driver and we’re just back at the house having coffee then heading out for drinks and to see a band. 4 adults, no kids.

GoTigers · 25/08/2024 16:03

Working unfortunately.

LakelandDreams · 25/08/2024 16:04

It's a bank holiday? I'm self--employed and doing a PhD so normal working day for me.

AuntieMarys · 25/08/2024 16:04

Gym. A walk Reading.

KendraTheVampyrSlayer · 25/08/2024 16:06

Having a lie in and walking the dog.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 25/08/2024 16:09

Branleuse · 25/08/2024 16:10

Im working.

SaltandPepperBeard · 25/08/2024 16:14

Umm, hopefully very little, today was spent doing housework, and the food shop, wife is meeting up with her friends tomorrow, I'll be cooking a roast, and tidying up a bit, might see what i can do in the garden (if the rain holds off!), i also booked annual leave for next week, im rather looking forward to it, as the wife will be working 😁

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 25/08/2024 16:17

Decluttering and school work today, Reading festival pick up tomorrow (and then the washing while she sleeps...)

Boredlass · 25/08/2024 16:20

Working because of a shift swap. I’m not bothered about bank holidays.

ilovesooty · 25/08/2024 16:20

Not doing anything today. I'm going to the gym in the morning. I'm self employed and would have been quite happy to work tomorrow. Bank holidays are a nuisance as far as I'm concerned.

ChristmasCatBells · 25/08/2024 16:22

We are visiting family home in Edinburgh. Staying with my parents.

Lilly11a · 25/08/2024 16:23

Son is working tomorrow so we went beach ( frinton) today and now heading home for a local pub late lunch / early dinner .

Tomorrow oh is off to play golf and I m going to see friends at cricket club

Mountainpika · 25/08/2024 16:25

Nothing special - we're retired so it makes no difference to us. Ok, so I sound smug! But at least we're not getting in the way of people who need a break more than we do.

@ilovesooty

why do you find them a nuisance out of interest?

Cherrysoup · 25/08/2024 16:26

Kind of spoilt here, it’s the start of the last week of the summer holiday which I’ve had off, but I’m currently looking after dog with broken leg and Dh with the identical injury! He’s also selling his car which was an absolute pigsty due to said dog and us not caring. I’ve spent hours vacuuming it, cleaning the leather, just needs the dash/doors wiping down (read: mud removing) and a wash, plus the alloys need a damned good scrub. Thrilling! I want to tackle the garden too, it’s crazily overgrown.

Oddly, we have a plumber coming tomorrow. He’s not English, I don’t know if he’s worried about Bank holidays, he’s coming to look at a couple of things.

SingingSands · 25/08/2024 16:30

I'm going to have a massive lie in. That's my only plan.

ilovesooty · 25/08/2024 16:32

They interrupt my work. It's much less likely that clients will want appointments.

TeamPolin · 25/08/2024 16:37

We're having a picnic in the park tomorrow.

NotSayingImBatman · 25/08/2024 16:39

A drive out to Whitby for fish and chips and a look around the shops.

Whyhaveibeencutoutofmamsnot · 25/08/2024 16:50

Working (swapped shifts) as would rather have a day off on a proper weekday when everything is open. Plus early morning commute better and cheaper.

Judellie · 25/08/2024 16:54

I've been off this week so done all the fun things already - today we have been sorting the airing cupboard and wondering why we own so MANY towels and duvet covers and pillow cases. Some are stil in the packet!
Gave people a lift to church this morning then did a roast dinner. DD and I have been on with the airing cupboard but I've left her to it now; we have also played scrabble and been for a walk. Saw my friend briefly.
We had this afternoon earmarked for a bike ride but it's too windy and it keeps raining - we may get that done tomorrow morning and I'll go and visit my friend in the afternoon, I think.
House is a tip so need to do that too but a bit tired right now.

Andnowshesatoddler · 25/08/2024 17:16

Hopefully some outdoor type with my daughter doing not an awful lot but still having a wail of a time she finds happiness in the simplest of things now which is absolutely adorable.

Violet17 · 25/08/2024 17:31

Hoping to go for a walk at the beach. Probably on my own. Most of my friends and family will be having family time. I do have a friend who is also single but she is on holiday.

RabbitsRock · 25/08/2024 17:37

Depends on the weather - the forecast is a bit mixed. If it’s nice, we might go for a picnic somewhere. We’ll avoid the beaches as they’re packed this time of year.
