To ask what are your bank holiday plans?

Tomorrow is the last bank holiday until Christmas!

I think there's always a bit of pressure to make the most of it as it also signifies the beginning of the end of summer.

I'm looking for inspiration. What is everyone planning to do?

I’m on leave anyway this week so keep forgetting it’s a bank holiday. Just tidying and getting ready for our friends to arrive in the afternoon as they’re staying with us for the week.

longdistanceclaraclara · 25/08/2024 17:41

Nothing. Going down to the coast at the end of the week as weather is better.

Andnowshesatoddler guessing predictive text? “ Wail of a time”. Hopefully your DD won’t be wailing! It’s lovely when they find joy in simple things. DD15 used to be like that & now she seems to find the negative in everything 😢

Honiton Hill Rally tomorrow. Wife and mother of transport nerds..

Walk on the beach with DDog.

Lying on sofa watching old movies.

Catch up with adult DC on phone.

Probably just cleaning. DH is away Tuesday-Friday abroad for work so I am solo parenting. At least if it's half clean it'll be manageable until the kids go back the week after. I don't like busy places on a bank holiday so stay well away.

Summertimer · 25/08/2024 17:46

To remember to not go into work and then continue with preparation with DC who is off to uni next month.

Coffee with a friend in the morning - then go and pick up elderly DM to take her to the coast for a late lunch and will probably do her food shopping at same time
Quiet evening in with DS and Dcat

Hoping for a lie in but I keep waking up annoyingly early atm

Hopefully it’ll be dry as I really need to do some basic garden tidying and wash ds’s new school uniform

Then out for lunch with the in laws.

I have booked the whole week off as annual
leave and don’t really have any plans which kind of feels like a waste but also very relaxing!

TooTired2024 · 25/08/2024 20:17

NHS so - working, like I have been the last two days!

Heatherbell1978 · 25/08/2024 20:19

I'm in Scotland but still have the Bank Holiday. It's DS first day at a new school so doing school runs, trip to the gym and housework!

Weegieunicorn · 25/08/2024 20:19

Not the last bank holiday in Scotland.

drspouse · 25/08/2024 20:28

We're in a National Trust holiday cottage in the West Country, this is our fourth year here (but two non-cottage years too so we first came in 2019. We always drive home on the Tuesday so tomorrow we will start packing, visit a large house, have a pub meal and then finish packing.
Unfortunately DS has been very unwell over the summer (he has epilepsy and fits are more frequent now, especially at night, so is exhausted in the morning). He's 12 but we may still need to put him in the car in his PJs to get him out in time.

Idontevenknowmyname · 25/08/2024 20:37

Shopping for a new mattress, which has taken all weekend as dh wanted to be sure of his choice. He has a bad hip and shoulder with our very firm memory foam one and it’s got to go! He has now chosen, so will order it tomorrow. Lots of places with offers on so it’s a good weekend for that.
Also intending to measure up for some new curtains which need to be M2M. Dd helped choose the design, she has great taste! The old curtains are getting holes where they get pulled and were secondhand to us some 20 years ago, so they’ve done well.
Probably some cleaning as we have guests next week before the schools go back. It all sounds very dull but it’s been nice to just get things done and hang about together at home.
