We are so proud of my DS - he had a HELLISH time in secondary- covid, health issues, bullying. He hated school and is so relieved it’s over.

He passed all his 9 GCSEs with 5s & 6s and has a place in college to do ALevels. He’s SO happy and proud!

Well done to everyone who got results today- the media only tends to focus on 9’s but hardly any of DS’s mates got 9s. Obviously massively well done to anyone who got straight 9’s but also massively well done to anyone who just passed and got enough to take them on to the next steps.

These kids are the covid year 7’s - they had a terrible start and for my DS, it has had a massive impact on his education.

They are all brilliant resilient kids 💚

Well done to your son! My daughter passed everything with 5 and 6's and has secured her college place for September 😁 very very proud of her 💕

These are the stories I want to hear!!

Bloody well done to your ds and well done to you!! How are you all celebrating?

FourEyesGood · 22/08/2024 16:36

Hear hear! Congratulations to your son.

As a teacher (with multiple Y11 classes) and a parent of a Y11 student, this morning was particularly fraught, but it’s all gone nicely. 😅

That’s great OP! Well done to your DS!

My DD got 6 8s and 6 7s. She worked her bum off for those grades and it didn’t come easily but she did it!
They’ve not had it easy and should all be commended for their hard work and determination 🥳

pearldiamond · 22/08/2024 16:47

My twins both got a 4 in maths. The joy and happiness on their faces when they realised! No more maths, ever, ever again in this house 🎉

Then a friend came over and opened her envelope. She has quite severe seizures and consequently missed even taking her English exams and attendance was low. She also got a 4 in maths. The tears! Then she realised she had also got 4/4 in science and, well - we were all in tears! She literally could not believe that she had passed and the joy on her face was just indescribable.

We all can't stop thinking about it!

Love this thread! Same as my son, had such a hard time with the school shutdown and got all 5s and 6s, his face when he got a 6 on English after not once passing it in his mocks was a picture!

Well done!!!

I had a rubbish time at secondary school, and left with O level Bs and Cs (5s and 6s). I've done alright!! Let's celebrate the not-too-shabby-at-all!

RechargeableGnu · 22/08/2024 17:04

DS' maths grade a few years ago, although not the highest grade he got, was the one he was happiest about - I think the realisation that maths is over for them is a joy!!

Ilovemycatalot · 22/08/2024 17:05

My dd did better than she thought including an 8 in art! Super proud!

Congratulations to everyone on here! Some amazing stories 😁

Btw daughter got a U in English Lit as she once again handed in a totally blank paper 😭😭 I don't care I actually supported her because it was important for her mental health to step back from the subject.

Roundaboot · 22/08/2024 17:24

Love these stories! DS was always going to pass everything but it was a bit squeaky if he'd get the necessary grade to do one of his chosen A levels, so we were very relieved when he got it, along with a clutch of 5s and 6s and a couple of surprise 7s and even a 9 (in PE)
He worked his socks off and I'm very proud of him.

Hope your DD ok! There is SO much insane pressure on the kids and nothing should come in front of their well being so well done to your DD for looking after herself - it’s always the most important thing 💚

My autistic DD was vomiting from anxiety due to the exams. She got a 6 for English despite never managing a mock. She scraped a pass in maths and got 5s for everything else. Off to art college and so excited.

My DS has passed all his subjects with 4s, 5s and 6s plus one 8 and a distinction. When he started senior school he’d just finished CBT with CAMHS due to his anxiety and was on extra support for English as his SATs weren’t great. He’s finished senior school as part of the senior student leadership team and is going on to do A levels. I couldn’t have imagined this for him 5 years ago, the school have done such a good job and the whole family is bursting with pride. Well done to everyone who’s achieved great results today!

DairyQueenforever · 22/08/2024 17:32

This Is a fab thread thank you, my gorgeous, kind and caring DD got 5’s and 6’s she is severely dyslexic she has worked so hard but only got a 3 in English lang but a 4 in lit hopefully college will still take her for a T level but the uncertainty till tomorrow is stressing her out but we are so so proud of her !

Rebootnecessary · 22/08/2024 17:34

As a parent whose children are now adults and well through education I applaud all these achievements. Every young person is individual and to see them moving on to the next steps is so lovely.
