Seems expensive but the sale very cheap? Is it worth it?

They have a special discount site, or used to. I've found it ok, but nothing remarkably better than mountain warehouse.

millennialprobs · 21/08/2024 19:58

We love regatta products in our family. As soon as there's a sale we are on it like flies on honey😂

Nourishinghandcream · 21/08/2024 19:59

Regatta clothing is a cheap, functional, value for money brand.
Most of the stuff is actually very good and generally does what it says on the tin.👍

schoolLa · 21/08/2024 20:00

@Nourishinghandcream some of the toddler stuff is over 50 quid! I don’t think that is cheap 😂 maybe I am a cheapskate!

I bought a massive winter coat with a fur hood, it’s fabulous, like a duvet. I also have a short waterproof jacket, also fabulous. My cousin is an avid extreme walker, likes scrambling up waterfalls (where permitted) and says it’s pointless spending loads on a coat when there’s nothing wrong with Regatta. Have a look on Vinted.

It's an entry-level brand and very useful because of that. If it seems expensive at "full" price, that's because it's rarely sold at RRP. There's usually an offer on.

I've bought Regatta for years. School coats, camping, fleeces, clothing, boots, socks, accessories. It's helped the whole family get outdoors. Some of the fabrics may be less technical, but it's sturdy and does the job.

Regatta, Trespass and Mountain Warehouse are all very similar, all decent quality, all only to be purchased from outlet stores/in the sale! DC had Regatta puddle suits and a toddler and they were great

OneTC · 21/08/2024 20:23

As above, good on offer, avoid at full price

LlynTegid · 21/08/2024 20:24

Had one of their outdoor anorak type outer coats, just got rid of it after about 12 years or so.

Notmybill · 21/08/2024 20:24

Not really. You get what you pay for.

I paid £100 for my waterproof trousers and they are waterproof. Many features and zips.

Regatta waterproof trousers are currently on sale at £10 and they have dreadful reviews that they're ill fitting and not waterproof.

TheRussiansAreComing · 21/08/2024 20:24

You should be able to by it discounted. Got loads of Regatta. I struggle to find anything else that offers the sort of quality you need from hiking gear at the low prices they sell it for. Probably also worth looking at Karrimor and Mountain Warehouse.

HoolsB · 21/08/2024 20:26

It’s a good budget brand but doesn’t stand up to equestrian life anymore, we definitely bought more in the 90s

Ohyoudodoyou · 21/08/2024 20:27

Love me some Regatta!!! I also buy Quechua and Jack Wolfskin but Regatta is fantastic value, mostly their
Tops - their sister brand Dare2B has the greatest long sleeve v neck lightweight tops ever! I have them in so many different colours and they pack light and wash and dry quickly.

Kumquat24 · 21/08/2024 20:27

Always discounted from actual price. Definitely at the cheaper end of outdoor brands. Good quality stuff that takes significant wear and tear. But less of a well thought of name brand if you’re into that stuff (I’m not) .

We’ re a sporty outdoorsy family and we always have Regatta items - thermals, socks, waterproof trousers are great.

WonderingWanda · 21/08/2024 20:31

It's pretty decent for day to day wear and is find for the odd bit of rain but not for proper hillwalking. Price wise it's loads cheaper than proper Gore Tex and the like.

What on earth have you found a for a toddler that is £50? Their puddle suits and rain coats are usually much cheaper for kids.

Escaperoom · 21/08/2024 20:36

Have a fleece jacket of theirs which I've had for so long I can't even remember - probably at least 20 years. Only fit for gardening now really but nothing wrong with it as such, no rips or seams coming apart, zip still works - it just refuses to die!

Cantgetausername87 · 21/08/2024 20:38

My sons regatta puddlesuit gets compliments from nursery for being the most waterproof- purchased it in a sale (I think from amazon not direct) and bought another one as it actually does what it says so I would say we'll worth it!

Jennalong · 21/08/2024 20:40

Have a look a Craghoppers , imo the next brand up .

OrwellianTimes · 21/08/2024 20:41

My last Regatta coat lasted about 3 months, so no. I had a joules one during the same time that cost the same and lasted 7 years.

RainBow725 · 21/08/2024 20:42

I've had quite a few Regatta coats. Their zips are very bad and the linings are not made properly in my experience. I've moved on to Craghoppers now.

leapinglizard1234 · 21/08/2024 20:43

It's a proper technical brand , not just the name . They have been around forever and are proper any weather clothes .

OneTC · 21/08/2024 20:23

Can you actually buy it at 'full price'? I thought it was one of those brands that was always on sale somewhere from an inflated price set to fool people into thinking they're getting a bargain.

As to whether it is worth it, it depends what you want it for. I'd probably not recommend it for mountaineering or extreme weather but it probably serves a purpose in more moderate surroundings.

However, if you're looking for toddler wet weather gear, how about looking on Vinted? There must be loads of stuff, including the fancy Scandinavian brands that are well designed for cold/wet weather that's been grown out of far before it's worn out.

Orangecar25 · 21/08/2024 20:46

I got a kids puddle suit for about £9 in their sale! Also, lots on vinted.
