It's gone dark earlier tonight, it's windy, leaves flying about, and colder and I can't help but enjoy it! it's like an autumn night (my favourite season) I'm already hunting for comfy knitwear now, and can't wait to get the log burner going 😂 how exciting!

Well luckily for you, you live in a country where it’s cold and dark 8+ months of the year.

Springadorable · 19/08/2024 21:10

There's only about five days a year when it's marginally too warm for a log burner.

No of course YANBU to like any type of weather.

You're unreasonable to start a AIBU thread on such a dreadfully dull topic! Like whatever weather you want, no-one cares!

Ineffable23 · 19/08/2024 21:11

Well seeing as summer has lasted about 2 weeks so far, and it can't have been too cold for a jumper even for long enough to get the mothballs out, I'm not quite sure you've been suffering with the heat for long enough to justify a celebration.

Waterboatlass · 19/08/2024 21:11

It's gorgeous, the cool wind is making me so happy. It's like being by a stormy sea

MyBrownEyedHandsomeBoy · 19/08/2024 21:15

I don't like hot weather (different if I am on holiday, near a pool and don't have to work full time and cook etc in it) so I am looking forward to Autumn now 😊

Yes it is wonderful. Can go about my business without getting sweaty. Can’t wait for it to carry on.

systemicmotivations · 19/08/2024 21:17

I'm loving it too! Best weather and makes a nice change from all the folk banging on about sunshine Grin Love the rain!

MyBrownEyedHandsomeBoy · 19/08/2024 21:18

@NuffSaidSam Sorry to have upset you with this 'dreadfully dull topic'... it was just lighthearted 😳

I’m enjoying it too, not so much the rain part to be honest. My candles are lit, Christmas soon 😆 can’t wait!

UtterlyOtterly · 19/08/2024 21:22

I love this weather. It was misty here first thing this morning, it felt properly autumnal.

Waiting in my wardrobe is a very soft and snuggly new jumper. I am so looking forward to wearing it.

Viviennemary · 19/08/2024 21:23

Me too! Goodbye what passes for summer here. Hot airless muggy. Awful.

Tulipvase · 19/08/2024 21:24

Me too. I have to have outdoor fire in the summer but it’s just not quite the same as indoor fire. I can’t wait for autumn!

Gettoachiro · 19/08/2024 21:24

Roll on winter! 🥶

Overtheatlantic · 19/08/2024 21:32

We don’t deserve autumn yet. A few more weeks of lovely warm sunshine and then we can crack out the snugglies.

Timeturnerplease · 19/08/2024 21:35

I used to love this time of year too. Then I had children that still need lots of outside time even if it’s pissing it down. The onset of autumn means weekends spent either getting soaked outside, spending a fortune on soft play, alternating with friends re whose house shall be destroyed by play dates or allowing way too much Disney+.

I love my DDs more than life itself, but I just want to curl up with a hot chocolate and a book when it gets colder.

Chocolateorange22 · 19/08/2024 21:46

I'm in turmoil. I love when autumn comes round because I can't handle summer (ginger and pale). However today was dark, windy and I was cold WFH. It reminded me that we've only had a couple of months where I've not had to use the office heater. For the first time ever I'm not sure I'm actually ready for autumn yet. This is the same person that was lying on the sofa last week moaning it was too stuffy outside and in the house.

ChanelBoucle · 19/08/2024 21:48

Jeez. Ignore the joy sponges, op. I’m with you!

Swollenandgrouchy · 19/08/2024 21:48

I love it Op.

I’m ginger, an avid sun avoider.

I love knit wear and tights and hats.

Autumn is my time and it’s comingggggg!!! 🍁🎃

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 19/08/2024 21:50

Oh god. I’m sorry - I clicked on this thread thinking it was this little bit of warm weather some of the UK is finally having that you are enjoying.

I am fed up though of threads where the op and pps compete with adjectives to impose their weather preferences on one another.

  • ooooh the lovely, snuggly crispness
  • ah, the beautiful, glorious sunshine

Not everyone feels the same about the weather- it’s not a battle of adjectives to present your view as objectively right!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 19/08/2024 21:54

NB I quite like all the seasons except the late Jan/ early Feb bit of winter. And even that can be nice if you get a bit of winter sunshine.

I’m not keen on heavy rain, record-breaking hot and humid days, or anything that means public services don’t run as normal like a lot of snow or a big storm. Otherwise fine.

Thelittlecatinatree · 19/08/2024 21:55

It's raining here tonight, it's windy, and I love it! A bit too warm yet for a fire so instead I've pulled out the fairy lights and lit some candles. I really dislike hot weather, I always have, so it's nice to read I'm not the only one who's happy with the rain and windy weather tonight😊 Roll on Autumn🍂🍁

GoTigers · 19/08/2024 21:58

Well, I love the summer and heat and hate Christmas so I could do with autumn holding off till the end of September (and winter fucking off for good).

piscofrisco · 19/08/2024 22:00

Don't speak too soon. I've just ordered two lovely woollen jumpers : therefore there will be a huge Indian summer as per every September and I won't get to wear them for months

Pinkchilli · 19/08/2024 22:01

YANBU I love it too! Hate the light nights with kids up until all times. Hot muggy roasting house no thanks. Cosy nights with candles can’t wait.
