Skechers after less than ONE MONTH of use

Dd trainers after less than one month of wear - no climbing or football. Look at the photo of the state of them. Should I just get her supermarket trainers if decent ones don't even last a month?

I always think Skechers look extremely lightweight. I’m not surprised.

Hidingbehindmyname · 15/08/2024 17:41

I think the quality of sketchers has gone down over the years.

crazycatladie · 15/08/2024 17:42

Only had a problem with the sole wearing out on kids Sketchers. Looking at where these have worn at the toe I think most trainers would do this that are soft fabric. Adidas do some that look like leather and I think they'd be more hard wearing.

iamtheblcksheep · 15/08/2024 17:44

The sketchers I have on my feet right now are starting yo do the sane

Positivenancy · 15/08/2024 17:44

Sketchers are absolute Trash!! Aisics are the best kids trainers by FAR!!

Bobbotgegrinch · 15/08/2024 17:48

Sketchers are crap as actual day to day shoes. They wear out far too quickly. I stopped buying them after going through 2 pairs in six months.

Blarn · 15/08/2024 17:52

Dds Sketchers last a while but they are on currenyly on theur first pairs in about 12 months so I do hope the quality hasnt gone downhill. Also had very good experience with Adidas ones, these are my preference tbh as they really do last but dc like the bounce of Sketchers.

BehindTheSequinsandStilettos · 15/08/2024 17:54

You could but a Tesco pair that cost me £18 only lasted 5 weeks.
I took them back and in fairness, even though they thought I was a cf, they did replace them.
The replacement pair also only lasted 5 weeks but I was too Blush to go back again. I'd recommend getting a pair in the sale at JDSports. Got a pair of slazzies (Slazenger) they've been good.

deeahgwitch · 15/08/2024 17:57

My Skechers are supposed to be waterproof but they are not ☹️

MoroccoMole · 15/08/2024 18:04

Not sure it's sketchers fault tbh. Looks like she's been dragging her toes along the floor!

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 15/08/2024 18:05

Looks like she scuffs her ties

My Sketchers for work lasted about a year of continually wearing. My cheap Asda ones lasted maybe 4 months...

eosmum · 15/08/2024 18:06

I had that with a pair of Skechers after a couple of weeks for DS who was 6 at the time. Told me they were not for running and playing in. Never got another pair.

HouseofHolbein · 15/08/2024 18:28

I bought sketchers for work because I'm on my feet all day. 4 months in the sole is disintegrating on the inside. I've bought a cheap pair of slazengers and I'll see how long these last.

Mrsjayy · 15/08/2024 18:30

I wore sketchers years ago and they were great, I bought some in April and they are binned..absolute garbage of a shoe.

Vitriolinsanity · 15/08/2024 18:41

Surely she's been stopping her bike or scooter with her toes.

I've got two pairs and have had them more than a year. One pair is to walk the dog. Sorted out my plantir facsilitis a treat.

FussyPud · 15/08/2024 18:43

I’ve been wearing Skechers for years, and in the past two or three the quality has nosedived. I now buy vans or new balance, depending on what I need them for.

MissyB1 · 15/08/2024 18:45

Love mine! I have two pairs still in great condition, one pair are 5 years old, my other pair are waterproof (and yes they actually are), they are 18 months old and still look great.

kids are much harder on trainers than adults though.

No. Hardly been on her bike or scooter as been going to holiday club. Swimming, art and rock wall climbing ( climbing shoes are provided)are the main activities. Also doesn't walk on her toes. Friend says she got some Adidas ones off eBay for about £12. Her DS climbs trees , plays football etc and she says his trainers are only just looking a bit worse for wear after 6 months - have had Skechers before with no issues. Thats why I'm a bit disappointed with these.

She's scuffing her toes, so perhaps you need to tell her to stop doing it. Some kids can wreck shoes in record time, whatever they cost.

@Tiredallthetimeneedsleep How old is she?

FlyLice · 15/08/2024 18:48

About a decade ago (or more) I had the most gorgeous Skechers (Mary Jane’s) that were beautifully made and long lasting. My last pair didn’t even last 6 months! A hole developed in the toes. It was embarrassing.

She's NEVER scuffed her toes. Granted she played football rode her bike and scooter in her previous ones ( also Skechers) and they lasted a LOT longer than these.

They do look like scuff marks. I'd get cheaper ones next time, but also think where she could be scuffing her toes.

Not football, climbing, or scooting....maybe the swings?

AnnieMcFanny · 15/08/2024 19:01

Op, without wanting to offend you, your DD is scuffing her toes. It’s obvious due to how far up the toe the damage is.

CheshireCat1 · 15/08/2024 19:10

I’ve had my work sketchers for about three years, still like new.

Parkmybentley · 15/08/2024 19:12

Sketchers are made of hope and glitter. Designer crap. My boy and girl have had them, get wrecked instantly. Overpriced crap!
