Skechers after less than ONE MONTH of use

Dd trainers after less than one month of wear - no climbing or football. Look at the photo of the state of them. Should I just get her supermarket trainers if decent ones don't even last a month?

Yes, scuff marks from how it has come away in that area, that's not peeling material or standard wear and tear from poor quality shoes.

QuestionableMouse · 15/08/2024 19:15

They're all I wear and last me ages. I have a pair that must be 12 years old and are still wearable!

Summertimer · 15/08/2024 19:15

The Primark ladies look alikes are really good

Ladyandherspaniel · 15/08/2024 19:16

You can see the quality of sketchers has gone downhill.

I had some that lasted me at least 4 years wearing them every single day at work in a very busy stockroom and dog walking and literally i only got rid of them recently coz the laces were completely knackered.
The soles were as tough as glass.

The newer versions look like they will last a month.

Sparklesandbeer · 15/08/2024 19:17

I strongly suspect there are fake skechers in circulation. Mine always lasted. Bought a pair recently and sole has gone and antislip became superslip within a month

Whatafustercluck · 15/08/2024 19:19

I still swear by Skechers. Mine last years and I'm currently wearing Skecher sliders, most comfortable shoes I own. Dd struggles with sensory issues and I'd never found a pair of trainers she was happy in until I bought her a pair of Skechers. She's been wearing them for months now without issue.

80smonster · 15/08/2024 19:36

We buyer Skechers as school trainers, worn twice a week on PE days - for the whole day. I shove them in washing machine and they come up shiny. Our last pair lasted a year (3 school terms). I’d complain to whoever you bought them from and see if they will send a replacement. Amazon retailers are generally great and fast at replying too.

2dogsandabudgie · 15/08/2024 19:40

Are you sure she's wearing the shoes provided at holiday club for rock wall climbing?

CCLCECSC · 15/08/2024 20:00

I've bought skechers this year and definitely won't be again. I would however buy Asics; my last pair last best part of a decade.

Wahine24 · 15/08/2024 20:06

They are overpriced and overpromised! My physio says they are not good for the feet , they are too spongey. I've had several physics say the same thing

FluDog · 15/08/2024 20:09

DS likes Sketchers as he says they're the most comfortable going. I have noticed his last couple of pairs have worn out much more quickly than previous though.

Hearya · 15/08/2024 20:13

I had mine a month and they fell apart. Complained to them but they said it was wear and tear. My argument was, even if I wore them every day (I didn’t), they should last more than 4 weeks! They refused a refund. Their customer service was as awful as their trainers.

shams05 · 15/08/2024 20:44

Dds been wearing the same sketchers for 4 years now, walking to school and back then college.
She paid £35 for them then and she's more than got her money's worth out of them.
Maybe the quality has drastically dropped in recent years.

carly2803 · 15/08/2024 20:50

sketchers are crap thats why

new balance or asics (is that the name?) would be better as sugggested above

Tiredallthetimeneedsleep · 15/08/2024 21:19

Bought last September time from Amazon (her previous ones were fab so I bought the next size up in a different style)

Sketchers are crap as actual day to day shoes. They wear out far too quickly. I stopped buying them after going through 2 pairs in six months.

Agreed even though i really like them because of the comfort and shape for my feet, they do wear quickly sadly.
As mentioned in another reply, I am considering looking at Asics or Hoka I think it's spelt.
Both names were mentioned by the Podiatrist I saw.

Kelly51 · 15/08/2024 21:34

She's NEVER scuffed her toes.
are you with her very minute of the day? normal wear does not cause that damage without scuffing, climbing etc

Exasperateddonut · 15/08/2024 21:36

The quality has nosedived. My child refuses to wear anything but sketchers as they are light and flexible. We’re getting through multiple pairs a year!!!

butterfly0404 · 15/08/2024 21:47

That's interesting, my OH has orthotic inserts due to significant feet issues and a pronating gait , Sketchers are the only trainers that haven't worn out.
His previous Regatta and Walking boot type shoes all wore on one side within 6 weeks and went in the bin. On his recommendation I bought some and they are great, no issues with wear at all. I've got 4 pairs and he has about 13 !

Can't speak for kids trainers though.

Vettrianofan · 15/08/2024 21:50

You can't beat basic supermarket trainers for small DC. My youngest two get trainers from Asda or similar and they are roughly £10 a pair. They usually last a fair while.

Wahine24 · 15/08/2024 21:52

@butterfly0404 probably not wearing out as he has 13 (!!!) pairs so the rotation /wear is less than someone who has one or two pairs .

DeathMetalMum · 15/08/2024 21:57

We switched to adidas or nike a while ago. Never the latest in design or most expensive ones. Something in sports direct or one of the outlets near by and much better value for money. Dd's generally grow out of theirs but last a good 6-12 months. More recently dd1 has chosen puma with with similar quality.

I take your point, however he bought one pair initially to try to see how they'd last and wore them for a year before investing in many. He still wears the oldest pair daily and the others are rotated based on occasion/what he's wearing

I like hoka as running shoes. Never thought to look at their other type😭😭 they are like walking on air 💕

Agree! There are quite a few different soles on their trainers, but they wear quickly and they are slippery even in light rain. So I fear I may have to consider another brand.
