There are so few v neck dresses - why??

I'm on a desperate hunt for a dress for a hen do this weekend (I've left it too late!)

Everything is bloody high / round neck... which make my massive boobs look like smuggled cushions!

If you're short and dumpy - where are you buying your v neck dresses from please?

I’m the same and struggle to find clothes that I like. I tend to Google v neck dress and see what comes up. I don’t really suit dresses but get tops from Roman, Matalan, Dorothy Perkins. It depends on your budget really. I would also search on Debenhams website and you’ll get results from different designers and price ranges. Sometimes they have free next day delivery. Hope this helps ☺️

John lewis lets you search by neckline....very handy.

MadeinBelfast · 13/08/2024 16:10

Apricot often have v neck dresses, some New Look stores stock them.

expiredplants · 13/08/2024 16:12

I’m buying round necks and altering them, with the help of a relative who’s far more experienced in dressmaking! Not particularly practical at short notice though, I share your frustration!

curtaintwitcher78 · 13/08/2024 16:13

I could have written this! I think there is a mission these past few years to make women look as unattractive and as Little House on the Prairie as possible.
I think the high street hates us.

Lovethat · 13/08/2024 16:16

Vinted is where I'm getting most of mine.

If you're looking for a floaty summer dress Hope & Ivy are good as are Tiger Lily.

Baroluleni · 13/08/2024 16:17

I am shortish and dumpy too, but I still go for round or square neck.
m&S has been my saviour this year!!
be careful if buying anything sale online from them though as they aren’t arriving next day.

wutheringkites · 13/08/2024 16:18

I've found H&M and Nobody's Child best this year.

CantSleepSweet · 13/08/2024 16:20

Not sure why. But Scamp & Dude do plenty of really nice v neck designs

Yes! I can't wait for the trend of floral pattern, puff sleeved, frilly styles to go away. Little House on the Prairie sums it up nicely.

Also boat neck anything, for those of us with big boobs who require scaffolding bras with unsexy straps they are awful.

Meadowfinch · 13/08/2024 16:20

Plenty on Boden. I can't wear their dresses - too short in the waist for me but some of them look lovely.

HollyNightingale · 13/08/2024 16:27

Try searching the Next website for V neck dresses and applying the relevant filters - they have loads of brands on there now.

mitogoshi · 13/08/2024 16:37

Bought a v neck from sea salt last week

Poppysmom22 · 13/08/2024 16:43

I’m the same it’s either gaping shirt dresses or a full on boob shelf in a round neck hideous

ChristmasPostman · 13/08/2024 16:49

Another vote for Nobody’s child, lots of high waist v neck short sleeves to be had. I hear you about v necks as with larger boobs shirred round neck dresses look hideous on me. I have also reached the age where I won’t go sleeveless any more, sites with filters for sleeves get my vote!

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 13/08/2024 16:55

@NorthernGirlie does a v neck not show a huge cleavage though??

Sherwil16 · 13/08/2024 17:11

I got a v-neck dress in the White Stuff sale. Look up notch neck, so not a deep v.

Blueroses99 · 13/08/2024 17:14

Or search for a sweetheart neckline

Kpo58 · 13/08/2024 17:15

Seasalt has some nice v-necked dresses, if you like bold prints.

User364837 · 13/08/2024 17:16

I don’t suit high necks. I have luck with B neck dresses at Roman and Pour Moi

And often gapes!

InfradeadToUltraviolent · 13/08/2024 17:18

Personally I'm loving the higher neck dresses this season. I'm grabbing loads of them for the rainy seasons when everything will be sodding v necked again, when people like the OP should stock up in their turn.

However, in the meantime, this from the Uniqlo sale is an absolute gem if there are still any available near you.

I like some of their dresses but they hardly ever have a full sleeve! I find it so annoying, there's always something not quite right with them.

@NorthernGirlie does a v neck not show a huge cleavage though??

Not necessarily. A v neck is the most flattering neckline for those of us with bigger boobs. I can’t wear high neck or boat neck - I just look fat. I’m fed up of all these high round necks - they look bloody awful unless you’re thin.

I’ve got v necks from sea salt as well as John Lewis.
