To ask what actually violates Facebook rules?

Reported a post earlier on Facebook for nudity it had a full penis showing, came back saying it doesn't violate standards and had the option to block the profile.

Another one commented further down about wanting people to send them money and in return they would get so much back. Obvious scam so reported that and again it came back saying it doesn't violate standards. This was on a thread about DIY wall panelling.

A friend reported a fake profile as it clearly had fake photos, and looked abit suss as they said they were in the UK but the housing didn't look right, She did a search and it came up with a woman in the US...the woman was selling something on Facebook marketplace. Came back saying it didn't violate standards and she had the option to block her.

So what exactly will Facebook get rid of? Noticing a lot more random racist, sexist, homophobic, misogynistic comments when scrolling pages but they don't seem to be getting removed.

Not much it would seem. I reported an acquaintance’s post the other day as she’d posted a photo of her baby girl completely naked, everything completely exposed and it’s just wrong!! Nothing happened, the post is still up.

Purplebiscuitwithsprinkles · 02/08/2024 21:36

O that's not good...it's really odd as they supposedly make a big deal about protecting users but it to do nothing.

If you try calling someone a potato they'll put you in Facebook jail for a week.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 02/08/2024 21:36

I had a comment removed and got a month long ban from Facebook. It was on an article about a bloke who picked a cat up by the scruff and threw it across the road. I said that if someone did that to my cat I'd rip their head off. Apparently I was inciting violence.

CosmicDaisyChain · 02/08/2024 21:39

I once had a completely un remarkable comment removed about nothing then they messaged me and said they made a mistake and re instated it. Gore and animal cruelty they seem happy to leave up though.

Click on the button to ask for a review then click that the reason is that Facebook misunderstood the context - I’ve had to do this a few times recently after initial report was rejected. I think facebook’s AI used to review the reports isn’t very good!

socialdilemmawhattodo · 02/08/2024 21:54

I report and report and report SPAM posts. I used to get notifications that facebook agreed and removed them. No more. I imagine their tiny real team are overwhelmed with reports. But you are right - not good enough.

A friend posted a photo of a large spider she'd found in the house and asked for suggestions.

I posted "Aagh! Burn the house down!"

Apparently this was against "community standards for inciting violence".
I assumed initially that this was a bot who wasn't looking at the context, but when I appealed it was upheld. 🤣
So now I write:
"I suggest in alignment with FB community standards you remove the threat of the creature by a means of hot destruction". This apparently is fine. 😁

However the video I reported that came up of someone hitting a small monkey that was clearly terrified apparently was "not against community standards". 🙄

KohlaParasaurus · 02/08/2024 22:11

My DH got banned for a week for commenting "boys are stupid" on a friend's post. When she found out that he'd been banned, the friend posted "girls are stupid" and got banned too.

But scam company adverts for sports shoes, the person claiming to be running 24 miles a day for charity (self-reported, no Strava etc.) and scrounging for donations as a bank transfer to their personal account, shared posts claiming that illegal immigrants are stealing your granny's winter fuel allowance, "It's fine, here's what you can do to stop seeing these posts if you don't like them."

I reported a video of a man committing suicide by jumping naked from a tall building in Glasgow, the video had only been taken a couple of days later. It was not against community standards but was eventually taken down after The Samaritans intervened.

UnbelievableLie · 02/08/2024 22:13

It's the AI reviews that are shite. I've had to report posts about 3 times, insisting it does violate the rules and eventually a person looks at it and agrees. 🙄

Mrsjayy · 02/08/2024 22:14

Nothing apparently, I've reported spam/scams/bigotry/racism/sexual "stuff " and nothing seems to violate the T&Cs it is ridiculous.

wlv12 · 02/08/2024 22:15

Like a PP, I once reported a photo of a baby girl fully naked and got told it met their standards 🤷‍♀️

wastingtimeonhere · 02/08/2024 22:16

I had a post removed of mine, a tiktok video of my dog doing a scentwork class activity. Not sure how it was phishing and against standards. 🤔 or who reported it

What that is mental!

ComeOnThenFanny · 02/08/2024 22:18

I had a post removed a few months ago where I said something about wanting to punch someone in the face. It was about a TV character, but I was inciting violence 🤣

TheLazyToad · 02/08/2024 22:25

I've reported racist violence (a video), it was apparently fine. I've reported a verbal racist post suggesting violence, also deemed fine. Neither of these were fine at all.

I've also had friends report a cloned account when I apparently tried to befriend everyone again, which I am sure we've all experienced one way or another, and Facebook said it is a genuine account. It really really wasn't. Apparently, there must be two of me, and I have an unusual name.

VictoryOrDeath · 02/08/2024 22:27

I've reported threats of violence and rape against women, and was told they were fine.

FB is a cesspit.

noctilucentcloud · 02/08/2024 22:30

I reported a horrifically racist post, like took my breath away at the level of it. Facebook came back and said it was fine, I re-reported it and they still came back and said it didn't break any guidelines. It blatantly did. If the poster was in the UK it would have been a police matter it was that bad.

thesoundofsummer · 02/08/2024 22:31

I've reported racist posts before and apparently that's fine. :(

Beautiful3 · 02/08/2024 22:42

Yes! Face book are stupid!

pinkstripeycat · 02/08/2024 22:43

Breastfeeding apparently 😳

Willyoujustbequiet · 02/08/2024 22:44

Posted in error. My phone has gone weird.

NonPlayerCharacter · 02/08/2024 22:45

God knows. I got a warning for spamming after I told a friend she'd been hacked. I told them they'd got it wrong. That was six months ago, no idea what's going on now.

A friend of mine who teaches burlesque has had all sorts of problems over her images even though none of them is obscene. She's always in lingerie at the very least.
