To ask what actually violates Facebook rules?

Reported a post earlier on Facebook for nudity it had a full penis showing, came back saying it doesn't violate standards and had the option to block the profile.

Another one commented further down about wanting people to send them money and in return they would get so much back. Obvious scam so reported that and again it came back saying it doesn't violate standards. This was on a thread about DIY wall panelling.

A friend reported a fake profile as it clearly had fake photos, and looked abit suss as they said they were in the UK but the housing didn't look right, She did a search and it came up with a woman in the US...the woman was selling something on Facebook marketplace. Came back saying it didn't violate standards and she had the option to block her.

So what exactly will Facebook get rid of? Noticing a lot more random racist, sexist, homophobic, misogynistic comments when scrolling pages but they don't seem to be getting removed.

I have unsuccessfully reported tons of spam and crap and they just don't care.

Well I must say I am baffled that they did not remove a penis photo, because I received a 30-day ban for posting a picture of a man who was naked from the waist up, and I was told it was for showing an obscene image I appealed but nothing happened and I was suspended for that 30 days.

I was only back about a week when I posted a meme that was a joke that had several images of historic people as part of the joke and one of the people was Hitler. I received a message saying that I was promoting and violent regime or something and another 30-day ban.

It is just bots that have no discernment. I have given up reporting anything to fb now. I do report to group admins if within a group though.
The bots gave an account warning to somebody local posting a warning about an equine disease called Strangles and deleted the post. Yet obvious racism, porn, scams, cruelty all apparently quite acceptable.
Facebook, tiktok, X are all out of control.
I heard the PM saying social media will be held to account for allowing inciting violence with the current riots so wonder if anything will be done to the gigantic companies involved but I think they are too big and hugely rich to be managed.

Thanks for the replies everyone at least I know I'm not alone on this.

I also reported a diabetes recipe app thing being advertised. I thought it was misleading and a scam because when I answered all the questions it takes you through to a page that says £6.93 for 7 days and you must cancel before the 7 days etc to not roll into a monthly plan but then when you go through to the payment page it says £31.00 to pay...emailed the company no response...again Facebook came back saying it doesn't violate standards.

I find it very disturbing that they are just not reports monitoring more closely and actioning things. Friends child's school before they broke up for the summer has had serious issues with TikTok/Facebook bullying, a girl was told to go and kill herself and various other awful hate filled posts being made about her all because she responded to a message from someone else's boyfriend...Facebook didn't do anything. The posts were finally removed when the Police intervened, one of the posts said she deserved to be assaulted physically and sexually.

Really concerned by the rise in disturbing online behaviour.

If you try calling someone a potato they'll put you in Facebook jail for a week.

I got a ban for replying to a scammer "twat"

A friend of my mothers was posting videos of people getting blown up and limbs lying about.....I reported them but all met guidelines. Had to block him in the end.

A friend of mine is having problems with a clone account. She's reported it, all her friends have reported it. I reported it again after the clone messaged me. It's still there.

Seems they make it up as they go along!

Pretty much nothing violates the rules. I’ve only ever reported about 5 things in all the years of using FB and they’ve all been things which state in the the rules aren’t allowed. Every time it’s been allowed to stay. I think it’s just looked at by bots, not a human 🤷‍♀️

TigerRag · 03/08/2024 07:03

I reported a scam ./ fake account who had PMd me asking for my personal details. Nothing wrong with it apparently
