How many ketchup sachets?

Sherrystrull · 19/07/2024 15:20

I was in Burger King earlier with my family.
We all ordered a standard burger meal. DH requested ketchup and the worker said there was one each in the bag.

AIBU to think one sachet of ketchup isn't enough for a portion of fries from a fast food place? I normally have two sachets and DS has three.

We asked for more and it was freely given but still!!

I don't have any at all so it would be wasted if they gave it out even one as standard to everyone. Loads of people will only need one. Why would they risk wasting all of that when you can just ask for more.

Sherrystrull · 19/07/2024 15:25

They didn't give one as standard. There was one each in the bag after we requested it.

One would be one too many for me. Three sachets? Would you like fries with your ketchup 😂

TheFlis · 19/07/2024 15:26

I would probably be ok with one ketchup but would want at least 2 bbq sauce!

ApolloandDaphne · 19/07/2024 15:28

I would need at least three. Maybe even more. When places have the little tubs you pump ketchup into I go through two full ones for a portion of fries. I treat it like I would dip.

For me, one doesn't even provide enough dip for every chip! It's my ds who likes 3 and that isn't as many as many of his friends!!

Because some people don't like it. Is this genuinely a surprise to you?

Ponderingwindow · 19/07/2024 15:34

I don’t use it, but most people I observe use at least 2.

Andthereitis · 19/07/2024 15:35

Now I want some burger king chips.

And ketchup.

Sherrystrull · 19/07/2024 15:36

@DappledThings

You clearly need to stay away from the thread. You appear to have a chip on your shoulder.

Of course I realise people are different. Hence I started this thread to discuss...

I would need 2-3 just to dip each chip, our mcdonalds charged for sauce for a three week period recently, then went back to giving it out for free when requested.

Why would someone who doesn't like ketchup, ask for ketchup?

TheBizzies · 19/07/2024 15:38

I'm not a saucy(!) woman but my daughter is. She'd have the right hump with one and I'd never hear the last of it 😂

Flyrightby · 19/07/2024 15:44

Ketchup and napkins. I can never have enough of either. And I hate the sachets. Give me a little tub (or several!) please!

Why would someone who doesn't like ketchup, ask for ketchup?

The question is why would they automatically assume everyone wants any or 3 sachets? OP is surprised none was given as standard and when asked for only one each. Then they had to ask for more.

Given that lots of people don't like any, or only a bit it doesn't seem at all odd to me that it is only offered in small increments to reduce waste.

muddyford · 19/07/2024 15:48

I went to the teashop at a Devon tourist attraction and was charged extra for the butter for my scone. Bloody cheek. Won't bother next time, or I will take a small Tupperware with my own.

PeloMom · 19/07/2024 15:49

If you want extra just ask for it? They’re aware many people don’t use any at all so put the minimum not to waste.

Please tell me you wouldn’t do that.

Teacherbee85 · 19/07/2024 15:55

I think I use about 500 🙈🤣

Needmorelego · 19/07/2024 15:58

I have to have a least 6 with a Burger King. Sachets are a pain - you hardly get any sauce in them. Some of their burgers don't even come with tomato sauce in so you have to use up a sachet for that 😂
McDonald's I can manage fine with one dip pot (for a medium fries).
I like the Wetherspoons that have actual bottles. So much better.

Needmorelego · 19/07/2024 16:02

@PeloMom at lot of Burger Kings don't ask and just automatically put ketchup sachets plus the mayonnaise ones in your bag.
If I notice I give the evil that is mayonnaise back - if I don't notice it will end up in the bin.
I really do wonder how much it costs them in unused sauces.

I think those people are on another thread at the moment defending the word "chav," but no doubt they'll be along in due course.

Caffeineislife · 19/07/2024 16:38

I'm waiting for the competitive under eaters who will be along soon to tell us that 1 packet of sauce would last the year for them and just looking at it will fill them up for the week.
