How many ketchup sachets?

Sherrystrull · 19/07/2024 15:20

I was in Burger King earlier with my family.
We all ordered a standard burger meal. DH requested ketchup and the worker said there was one each in the bag.

AIBU to think one sachet of ketchup isn't enough for a portion of fries from a fast food place? I normally have two sachets and DS has three.

We asked for more and it was freely given but still!!

Took the kids to McDonald's today, our local one is a franchise. They have taken away the pump things, and have gone back to charging 20p per sachet. That irrationally annoyed me!

But yes, 1 is measly and I'm sure they're smaller than they used to be.

I'm waiting for the competitive under eaters who will be along soon to tell us that 1 packet of sauce would last the year for them and just looking at it will fill them up for the week.

And it could be used in every service of the magical chicken that does 14 family meals and some left for the dog.

OP sachets are useless and they should have pots of it!

MumChp · 19/07/2024 16:59

We pay for them in our country at McD and Burger King - and suddenly one is enough for most orders.

I thought the magic chicken was also able to make it's own condiments as well as feed 14 and the dog.

@Caffeineislife apologies my mistake, I thought it only referred to mayo and BBQ, didn't realise tomato ketchup was included 🤦‍♀️

Ketchup and napkins. I can never have enough of either. And I hate the sachets. Give me a little tub (or several!) please!

Well I'm in mcdonald's right now. I was given seven! napkins. Surely that would be far more than enough for anyone? WTF do they think people need more than one or two? The waste is astonishing because they won't take them back once they've given them to you and they're too busy to take notice when you say you only want one napkin.

But to answer the OPs question, I think one sauce is plenty. I had nuggets, chips and garlic cheese things which came with 2 sauces. I've dipped every mouthful and didn't even use one pot for everything so will take the second one home.

If they give 2 or 3 to everyone, most will get wasted.

Four minimum for me.

I keep my own tomato ketchup in the car for these occasions.

LadyChilli · 19/07/2024 17:13

Two would be the minimum for a small fries. Ideally more.

I'm another sachet hater. You have to rip the pack open and squirt it all over and it gets messy. I want to dip.

@DappledThings

You clearly need to stay away from the thread. You appear to have a chip on your shoulder.

Of course I realise people are different. Hence I started this thread to discuss...

I feel the same about vinegar sachets

I hate since covid that a lot of places now use sachets, can never open the damn things!

Planesmistakenforstars · 19/07/2024 16:23

I think those people are on another thread at the moment defending the word "chav," but no doubt they'll be along in due course.

😂 just laughed way too much at that.

diktat · 19/07/2024 17:47

If my local tries to put them in the bag I say not to, because they'll just end up in the bin and it's yet more single use plastics adding to the tidal wave of rubbish in landfill.

Why would you want BK to hand out thousands/millions of unwanted ketchup sachets on the off chance you might want two, OP? Just say how many you want.

Needmorelego · 19/07/2024 18:15

@diktat that's the thing - some Burger Kings ask and are happy to give you handfuls, some glare if you dare ask for more than two and some stuff loads (plus the mayonnaise - urggh) in whether you want them or not.

Needmorelego · 19/07/2024 18:16

Of course the biggest debate is how many milk sachets for a McDonald's tea ???
(it's 6 minimum for me.....)

Flyrightby · 19/07/2024 20:01

@Bjorkdidit I use more than 7! I get through reams of napkins (or kitchen roll at home). And I steal my husbands. I've no idea why, I just use so many.

I love the sauce tubs at maccys.

mondaytosunday · 19/07/2024 21:05

I ask for ketchup and they normally hand me several.

GettingAroundTown · 19/07/2024 21:08

YABU it's enough for me. I do a tiny dip for taste as it's too sweet otherwise , some people drown their food in ketchup.
Surely it's common sense to hand out a minimum, then you can ask for more.
Otherwise people would just bin the extra. What a waste.

LadyCrumpet · 19/07/2024 21:23

How many ketchup sachets?

Fucking none! I detest those things, give me a pump bottle like mcds, a pot or don't supply the stuff at all ffs.

Not many things piss me off like a sauce sachet. Maybe a lukewarm bath.

I'd rather take my own bottle with me, and have done in the past.

40andlovelife · 19/07/2024 21:25

You can never have too much ketchup. I would be fuming

I would probably complain on Mumsnet tbh

Funnywonder · 19/07/2024 21:34

Why on earth don't you carry a plastic tub of sugar free, homemade ketchup everywhere you go? I thought everybody did that🤷🏼‍♀️

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 27/07/2024 21:18

Three sachets here.
