3 under 3 . Potential for me to go from full time to part time and work 3 days.

I have to be in the office Wednesday.

Which 3 days would you work .
I thought Mom, Tue, Wed but then I’d have the children Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun !

so . which days would be best do you think. For the children who are going to nursery and for me and my sanity!

Interested to here ! Thanks 😊

Tues weds Thurs 💯
long weekend every weekend, lovely

PerkyMintDeer · 18/07/2024 13:51

I'd do Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday.

It works out better bank holiday wise too

TheBizzies · 18/07/2024 13:52

TWAT 😂

confusedlots · 18/07/2024 13:55

I do Wednesday Thursday and Friday and think it's definitely the best days for me. I start the week getting the kids off to school and feel motivated to get stuff done in the house, batch cook or go for a run etc. no Sunday blues! And Friday is so much of a nicer day in work than Monday, everyone is winding down for the weekend.

If you get bank holidays it works in your favour not to work Mondays - it doesn't change the total amount of time you get off work but it gives you more flexibility to use your leave when you want to.

Having previously worked Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, I wouldn't want to go back to it.

PiggieWig · 18/07/2024 13:55

I used to do Mon/Tue/Wed and loved it. There always seemed to be plenty of toddler groups on a Thursday

NeverEnoughPants · 18/07/2024 13:55

How do bank holidays work at your work?

Do you have to take them off, or are they added to your holiday allowance?

This would very much be a factor in deciding if I would work a Monday or not.

Sunshineafterthehail · 18/07/2024 13:56

Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays.. Long week ends every week!

FLOWER1982 · 18/07/2024 13:58

I do Tuesday Wednesday and Friday. I love my Mondays and Thursdays off. 3 days in a row drags, I like having the day off in between and not too much to catch up on spreading the days out. Plus works with bank holidays. Oh and also Fridays tend to be quiet!

Hankunamatata · 18/07/2024 13:58

I work Wednesday, Thursday, Friday as suits me. My bh allowance is added to my leave to use when I want.

snoopyfanaccountant · 18/07/2024 13:59

I work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There are so many bank holiday Mondays that I don't want to lose lots of annual leave for them (I have always phrased in a positive way to employers to not be losing a third of my working week).

Fudgetheparrot · 18/07/2024 13:59

I do Mon/Weds/Thurs and really like it- you’re never gone for too long so stuff doesn’t pile off and it breaks up the week nicely. Tues/Weds/Fri would give the same sort of vibe and work a bit better for bank holidays too

confusedlots · 18/07/2024 14:02

I also like the fact that I'm at home on Mondays and Tuesdays to help them with their homework (they're still quite young) so am only relying on others overseeing homework's (family member or afterschools club) on Wednesday and Thursday, and of course there's no homework on Fridays anyways.

Loub55 · 18/07/2024 14:03

I did Tues, Weds and Thurs and I think it's definitely the best option. Especially if you get pro rata bank holidays added to your leave allowance as I did.

I recently increased to 4 days and chose to work a Friday, still keeping the Monday off!

curious79 · 18/07/2024 14:12

Tues/Weds, Friday

Most offices more chill on a Friday so will never be truly terrible

You avoid the Monday rush in and have a day free then to gather your wits, and then Thursday as day for appointments and sanity on Thursday.
Most part time workers do TWAT so I find Thursday is the new Friday.

TRACKOK · 18/07/2024 14:28

I'm currently on mat leave but prior to that and when I return I work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. I'd rather not work Monday but my wife does condensed hours and her employer would only offer Monday off, it means we only need 2 days a week nursery/wrap around care so it's fine. If I had free choice I'd do Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

Crunchymum · 18/07/2024 14:29

I've done both M/Tu/W and W/Th/F.

Much prefer to finish up for the week on Wednesday.

I also have 3 DC (they aren't all under 3 though 😳)

Are you saying you don't want the 4 days in a row off?

OldTinHat · 18/07/2024 14:33

Mon, Tues, Weds. That way you get to appreciate bank holiday Mondays.

Stompythedinosaur · 18/07/2024 14:34

I think Tue, Wed, Thurs would be the nicest as an adult.

But I found that Mon, Wed, Fri worked best for my dc when they were little so they weren't in childcare multiple days in a row.

paristotokyo · 18/07/2024 14:35

Tues-Thurs definitely, it's what I do.

bluebellsandspring · 18/07/2024 14:35

If the school your kids will attend has a lot of Monday holidays I'd avoid that day. It is hard enough covering all the school holidays but if you work on a Monday it is even harder as Mondays are often tagged on to other holidays as in service days.

BingoMarieHeeler · 18/07/2024 14:36

Tuesday Wednesday Thursday, no question! Bank holidays and insets usually Monday and Friday and often throw a spanner in the works! I understand yours are under 3 but soon they won’t be. Good luck!

No33 · 18/07/2024 14:36

Dont work mondays, you'll lose half your bank holidays to annual leave.

I would say tues/wed/thurs if you can

Orangevlue · 18/07/2024 14:37

I do Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday and think it works really well!

Oldfatandfrumpy · 18/07/2024 14:45

Another one that would do TWT

ItsAStupidQuestion · 18/07/2024 15:11

From someone who's worked with children for decades, if they're in a childcare setting I'd pick 3 days in a row for continuity for them.
