And we’ve had all of 2/3 days of sunshine. Awful 😞

Libre2 · 16/07/2024 01:07

I know. January seemed to last for 5 months and then the rest have just zipped on by.

urbanbuddha · 16/07/2024 01:14

Agree. I was sheltering under the supermarket awning from the monsoon-like conditions tonight looking at the rain bouncing up off the road thinking “this could be January in Glasgow.”

Porcuine20 · 16/07/2024 06:42

I was thinking this… we only have a few weeks of summer left and have had very few hot, sunny days. Just like last year. It shouldn’t affect me so much I know, but my mental health would benefit so much from some sunny weather, relaxing in the garden, barbecues etc. I feel slightly tearful at the thought of a summer of rain and then back into September and the dark nights and mornings drawing in.

I'm the same. We haven't had a buffer of just uninterrupted pleasant weather. It's been the odd day so it is glorious and then it's not. It's really jarring. Feels like I can't relax anymore as I'm constantly watching the sky. It is just relentless grey.

twinklystar23 · 16/07/2024 07:09

Same here and wondering if this is here to stay was watching a place in the sun.....

NightBirdy · 16/07/2024 07:12

The weather has cheated us out of any feeling of summer.

chosenone · 16/07/2024 07:13

Really quite depressing to have another year like this! Barely sat in the garden, worn my sandals or summer dresses!

BustingBaoBun · 16/07/2024 07:18

Totally agree.

Went to an open air concert last weekend, rain hood up and down, grey cloud, spitting with rain. Friends for a barbecue this weekend and another open air thing and forecast is not good

I find it depressing. The only good thing is there's not many threads on here saying I hate this hot weather!

ilovesooty · 16/07/2024 07:22

We're usually getting the threads now where the summer haters are looking forward to crisp cold autumn and cosy snuggling with hot choccy under a blankie. Autumn will be so similar to this it will be unnoticeable.

Tangled123 · 16/07/2024 07:24

I have exams in August and, while I am really excited about not having to study anymore, I am so not ready for them yet.

I wish it was still May.

Seas164 · 16/07/2024 07:25

I could definitely go for a rewind.

Mummadeze · 16/07/2024 07:28

I have had the hearing on every morning throughout the Summer apart from one week. Haven’t been able to wear any Summer clothes. It’s so annoying!

MrsKwazi · 16/07/2024 07:29

It’s been November since November. My hydrangeas had flower buds in Feb. Very very few bees in my garden. Some bumblebees, have not seen any hover flies, hummingbird moths, one butterfly and one smallish blue moth. My garden is heavily planted for pollinators and my lavender hedge has a hum to it every summer. Spotted only two newts, though there has been gazillions of tadpoles. The wet weather must have worked in their favour. I find it all so depressing. The only positive is I have seen no box moths at all. A few caterpillars in March, but they must have been the ones that overwintered.

caringcarer · 16/07/2024 07:33

It's because of all the rain and miserable weather.

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2024 07:33

It's meant to be a bit warmer the middle of this week , but rain again on Saturday ( south east)
I don't mind this weather, but I know people are very affected by it and would like it much hotter
Maybe autumn will be nice as it was last year.

WestofaCrave · 16/07/2024 07:33

It really is depressing. Cover has been off garden table a maximum of 5 times since Spring 2023!!

We haven't had a summer since 2022 but we are absolutely guaranteed a winter. Guaranteed. It's not only the average person's mental health it affects but also crops. We're all going to be paying for this onslaught of constant shit weather. Months and months and months of shit weather.

Ihateboris · 16/07/2024 07:34

I've spent a grand total of FOUR days in my garden this summer!! So utterly pissed off. Just out walking three very wet dogs who are now going to stink the house out! 😠

hattie43 · 16/07/2024 07:36

I'm so upset over the weather in this country now , I can absolutely see why people move abroad . My idea of summer is long lazy days of sun stretching ahead when you wake up knowing it's going to be a beautiful day . Yesterday I looked out the window at darkness and lashing rain and it could have been October .
I'm retiring next year and starting to wonder how to fill my time if it's constant wet . I'm a real outdoors person and more of this fills me with dread .

I haven't even bothered to get my garden furniture out this year , last year I had a fully decorated patio .

Ihateboris · 16/07/2024 07:38

Also, I feel so sorry for farmers. Are there any on here? How is the weather impacting you?

WhatNoRaisins · 16/07/2024 07:41

I don't even like hot weather and I'm getting fed up with this. I want to take my kids on walks and picnics and actually wear a summer dress once in a while.

I'm all for crisp cold weather, hot chocolate and snuggly but you can only get excited about that when it's in contrast to something else. Otherwise it's just more of the same.

I can't even be bothered to do my patio pots! The garden needs a landscaping project doing in one corner, and I haven't got it booked as don't feel motivated 🤷‍♀

Ineedaholidayyyy · 16/07/2024 07:43

It's so depressing, I don't want to open the curtains to see yet another day of grey skies. I'm guessing the kids sports day is going to be cancelled again after already being cancelled last week due to the rain. I'm still wearing hoodies and jeans most days, haven't worn a summer dress or sandals once this year! I'm not fussed about it being hot, I would just like some dry sunny days 😎

Ratfinkstinkypink · 16/07/2024 07:43

I thought the same thing when my heating came on at the weekend, it's more like bloody October than July.
