To ask what is this calming music/talking called?! Help

I'm flying in the morning and Im a really bad flyer.

On virgin last year I listened to these tracks that are designed to relax you and I felt they really helped when I was mid air. They were like a man talking, and in the background there was noises of like fire crackling, Woodland sounds, some had rain noises. The guy was talking slowly and describing all around him, telling you to take deep breaths, etc. I think the tracks lasted about 30 mins to an hour.

I've been searching Spotify for 30 mins but i can't find anything similar. I don't know what to search for. I can only find music to get you to sleep.

Does anybody know what I mean, thank you!

Try the Calm or Headspace app

Impatientwino · 15/07/2024 22:06

The calm app is really good. Stories on there really helped me when I was feeling anxious. They usually have a free trial.

DoTheRoary · 15/07/2024 22:08

Meditation?

taxquestiontime · 15/07/2024 22:08

Maybe one of the sleep stories podcasts, like Get Sleepy? Or the Calm ap - although I have never used it so not 100% sure of the content

I don’t know if you’re talking about a specific one but I love the Ffern podcast as well as Caroline Wirthl’s Yoga Nidra sessions. Instant relaxation.

Isthisrealomgwow · 15/07/2024 22:11

Possibly guided meditation.

NormaNormalPants · 15/07/2024 22:14

It’s been a while since I flew virgin but they used to have guided meditation from the Headspace app on their in-flight entertainment so I’d guess it was that.

Squirrelsnut · 15/07/2024 22:16

Absolutely tons on YouTube. Search sleep story or sleep sounds or meditation.

WelkomInEuropaJonguh · 15/07/2024 22:23

The Sleeping Forecast on Radio 4 (or BBC Sounds) is a similar thing and very pleasant to listen to.

Some episodes are the Shipping Forecast with some quiet background music and others are parts read from (usually instructional) books. One of the Christmas episodes had excerpts read from an old recipe book with descriptions of creating a festive feast. I enjoy that one all year round!

Fillyfrog · 15/07/2024 22:27

Thank you so much for all the suggestions. It's definitely head space I listened to. I need something I can download onto my phone which is why I was hoping to use Spotify but can't quite find exactly what I'm looking for yet.

Try brown noise.

Guiltypleasures001 · 15/07/2024 22:31

Guided imagery

I like a free app called Relax Lite with Andrew Johnson. 10 minutes of a nice Scottish man telling me to relax.

Is that wise?

LaWench · 15/07/2024 22:41

Definitely guided meditation. There's loads on Spotify. I love a sleep one before bed.

Dotto · 15/07/2024 22:42

Hypnotherapy

Beebopwasthebest · 16/07/2024 00:27

Sleep casts on HeadSpace. In the sleep section. They start with a wind down then you listen to a gentle story...no drama or cliff hangers, more about description. Each night it changes a little bit so you can't learn it off by heart.

I love: The Cat Marina, Rainday Antiques and the Midnight launderette.
As long as I like the narrators voice, I'm asleep before it finishes!

Haggisfish3 · 16/07/2024 00:28

Try meditainment.com

PiggieWig · 16/07/2024 00:30

Glad you’ve identified it. I second The Sleeping Forecast for a soothing soundtrack. It’s on BBC Sounds so you can download it easily enough if you have a TV licence.

SilverSilos · 16/07/2024 00:32

BBC Radio 4- weather forecast OP, it is blissful.

RookieMa · 16/07/2024 02:33

Have a look on BBC sounds they'll be something like that on there you'll be able to download

RookieMa · 16/07/2024 02:37

Type in 'mindful'

There are a few mindful mixes with different sounds
