To look at the sun to bring on a sneeze?!

Am I the only person that does this?

If I need to sneeze, I look up at a light or the sun (not directly of course) and it instantly makes me sneeze.

Husband thinks I'm crazy. Surely I can't be the only one???

YANBU- I do that too
YABU- never heard of such madness

This definitely works for me. It’s a thing!

Sunshineclouds11 · 07/07/2024 19:40

It works the opposite for me, it stops the sneeze!

JennyfromtheBlok · 07/07/2024 19:41

Same. Although an electric light does the same.

I often sneeze when I open the curtains if it’s sunny outside.

Justhereforaibu1 · 07/07/2024 19:41

Yep me too. Sun sneezers we are. My husband doesn't, daughter doesn't but son does

combinationpadlock · 07/07/2024 19:42

I've often heard the opposite, But it is never a good idea to look at the sun

UtterlyOtterly · 07/07/2024 19:42

There's a name for it, hopefully someone will be along with it in a moment.

I do it a lot, I have to be careful when I'm driving, turning a corner to face the sun can set it off.

wildthingsinthenight · 07/07/2024 19:42

I do this

Lemevoir · 07/07/2024 19:42

Same here. My dad as well.

JurassicClark · 07/07/2024 19:45

The opposite!

Sun or a bright light to stave off a sneeze.

I agree with @Sunshineclouds11 and @combinationpadlock

NailsHairNipsHeels · 07/07/2024 19:46

Any bright light works for me.

Ineffable23 · 07/07/2024 19:46

This doesn't make me sneeze but it does my mum so I know what you mean!

sittingonacornflake · 07/07/2024 19:47

Yep, any bright light!

RabbitsRock · 07/07/2024 19:47

It’s a thing!

Createausername1970 · 07/07/2024 19:47

Yes! I thought it was just me.

TigerRag · 07/07/2024 19:47

I used to get this a lot when younger. Not so much now

WetBandits · 07/07/2024 19:48

Works for me! Any bright light source will do. Also spearmint gum.

JohnTheRevelator · 07/07/2024 20:01

This is very common. I know loads of people who do this. Never worked for me though!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 07/07/2024 20:12

Yep or any bright light

SpecialG · 07/07/2024 20:14

Yep, not me but my husband and my son both do this

Abhannmor · 07/07/2024 20:14

Works for me. Or any light source. Even crossing to the sunny side of the street.

UpThereForThinkingDownThereForDancing · 07/07/2024 20:15

I know loads of people who do this. Yanbu

Inastatus · 07/07/2024 20:16

Yep, this works for me too. My Dad used to sneeze his head off after eating anything minty.

PickledMuffin · 07/07/2024 20:16

my son instantly sneezes as soon as he's in the sun, so does my mum!

Definitelysometime · 07/07/2024 20:17

Works so well for me - any bright light will do. I love it! I actually feel sorry for people this doesn't work for Grin
