To ask how much you’d pay for a deep clean?

New house, 3 bed semi with one bathroom

Kitchen needs a deep clean, so does the upstairs main bathroom

How much would you pay? I have a company who are recommended but charge £21.50 per hour per person, and they want to bring 3 people so £64 an hour is a lot - unless it gets done quickly?

The thing is, that the deep clean shouldn’t be priced any differently. Yes it takes longer, but the hourly rate should be the same, you just pay for more hours.

Completely disagree. A deep clean will include cleaning the oven for eg, that alone is a £60 job (taking around an hour) if you were to hire someone to specifically do that job. Deep cleans involve a lot more work than a general clean, it’s not just the same job but it takes longer

I think customer expectations are higher for a deep clean and it requires greater attention to detail / usage of products.

Also tends to be more than one person so the logistics are a bit more awkward to organise.

But there is indeed probably a bit of Opportunistic mark up in there as it is a one off service

I paid £165 for a 7 hour deep clean the other week. They just managed the kitchen and 3 bathrooms in that time.

They did spend a long time in each room. All the doors and light fittings got wiped down so much more thorough than when I had a regular cleaner.

We had a deep clean recently. Our house sounds about the same size as yours. It didn’t include the oven, fridge or the insides of the kitchen cabinets as I’d done that already, but everything else. It took two cleaners four hours and we paid about £110.

But given it’s just the bathroom and the kitchen and they’ll be here for 4 hours, wouldn’t two of them be enough?

That's what they've quoted. If you're not happy get another quote. We paid £350 recently for a deep clean including carpet steaming.

Interesting - in our area there’s a sense that you book the cleaner for so many hours and whatever they do in that time is paid at the hourly rate.

Thinking about it there’s no reason why a ‘deep’ clean is more expensive than a ‘normal’ clean. In fact, it is quite surprising that things often classed as a deep clean should normally be thought of as a standard part of a normal clean!

When I sold my late mother's house last year, I paid £75 for a deep clean of the kitchen. I cleaned the rest of the house myself but the kitchen was really filthy and way beyond any cleaning that I was willing to do. The cleaners did an amazing job.

Growlybear83 · 03/07/2024 09:53

I should add that it took two people 3.5 hours to clean the kitchen because it was so bad.

Oh think that’s a bargain for all that.

I'll try and talk them into it.
I'm certainly refusing to stay there again until it's clean!
