To ask how much you’d pay for a deep clean?

New house, 3 bed semi with one bathroom

Kitchen needs a deep clean, so does the upstairs main bathroom

How much would you pay? I have a company who are recommended but charge £21.50 per hour per person, and they want to bring 3 people so £64 an hour is a lot - unless it gets done quickly?

I just don’t know what a general figure should be. I was hoping to pay 2 people £200 to do this in several hours between them.

I’d expect to pay around £250

TheShellBeach · 02/07/2024 22:34

If it's really bad I'd expect three people to take longer than an hour.
Two hours each.

My cleaner charges £18/hr. But we never need a deep clean.

That’s reasonable. I just don’t see why they need 3. We are only getting a deep clean now as we’ve just bought it

She’s saying it’s a minimum of 4 hours, ideally 5

AIBU to think it’s not going to take 3 people 4 hours to clean a small 3 bed semi??!

It’s not in a terrible condition, just lived in but needs fridge cleaning and bathroom properly doing. That’s pretty much it.

TinySaltLick · 02/07/2024 22:39

When you ask for deep clean it is a different service and is always priced a bit higher. 3 people isn't uncommon from my experience.

64 an hour isn't a big surprise, especially if you want every tiny detail sorted out.

But given it’s just the bathroom and the kitchen and they’ll be here for 4 hours, wouldn’t two of them be enough?

It'll be quicker if there are three of them.

You could shop around and get more quotes.

Having worked as a cleaner, for a proper deep clean I'd say at least four hours just for the bathroom and kitchen, and that's assuming they aren't too dirty.

Geiyotue · 02/07/2024 22:44

For one person I mean.

Velvetbee · 02/07/2024 22:45

It definitely shouldn’t take 4-5 hours for 3 people, that’s insane, (cleaner here). 6 hours total (2 hours x 3 people should be fine.
Say you’d like the 3 people for 2 hours and go from there.

Therunecaster · 02/07/2024 22:47

Last week I paid 258 for a 5 bedroom house with 4 bathrooms and 4 big downstairs rooms. That included the oven and fridge. I had to empty all of the cupboards in the kitchen and the 3 of the bedrooms aren't used so not needing much. Two people for 17ph for 7 ish hours

I agree with this.

Loub55 · 02/07/2024 22:48

I paid £250 recently to have my mum's house deep cleaned for it to be sold. It was a set rate, 2 cleaners came. Large 3 bed semi

Babadook76 · 02/07/2024 22:50

I’ve just had a deep clean done after my tenants moved out, the house was pretty dirty. 3 bed with a massive conservatory. £189 for 2 cleaners for 3 hours and the house is now sparkling. And there were cheaper quotes than this, these just had the best reviews

RabidRose · 02/07/2024 22:51

Are you just wanting the kitchen and bathroom deep cleaned or the full house? It also depends on the state of the house tbh. If it’s the full house that’s a reasonable price, if it’s just the kitchen and bathroom why do they need 3 people? Personally when we’ve moved house we have every room deep cleaned. I don’t want to be cleaning grease from the top of kitchen cupboards for instance or wiping shite from skirtings.

Howdoesitworkagain · 02/07/2024 22:58

I think the hourly rate sounds reasonable. You just need to agree with them what areas you want cleaned and/or agree the length of time.

My deep cleans that I book every now and then for our house work out at about £25/hr. They’re more expensive than regular cleans.

babadumm · 02/07/2024 23:08

£300 for small London flat

We paid 450 euro for this last week for a similar sized house. 9 hours cleaning for one cleaner. 50 euro an hour. She worked flat out. It's now shining. No windows but oven included.

caringcarer · 02/07/2024 23:16

Get another quote if you are not happy with this one. I would have thought 1 person in the bathroom and 1 person in the kitchen for 2 hours each so 4 hours total would have been enough. It will be quicker and easier because the house will be empty so it will be easier to clean.

unreliable · 02/07/2024 23:23

I misunderstood!

21.5 per hour, but she meant 4 hours as in, 1.3 hours each = £86!

Ah, that's better!

babadumm · 03/07/2024 08:46

So £21.5 per hour for 3 people together, or am I misunderstanding? I'd be glad about the cheaper price but that's £7 per hour per person, way under NMW... Random but I'd be a little worried about how they pay their employees?

The thing is, that the deep clean shouldn’t be priced any differently. Yes it takes longer, but the hourly rate should be the same, you just pay for more hours.

Isitisit · 03/07/2024 08:49

I’ve just booked a deep clean for £140 for my three bed semi. That’s for 6 hours work.
