Following on from another thread where the poster had her ears unblocked and it felt amazing (I agree!!) what other small things really satisfy you and make you 😁

I love it when it’s hot and you can get your laundry dried in a couple of hours on the line.

I love it when I’ve finished cleaning the house and I can sit back and have a cuppa.

Waking my DC up on a morning and kissing their lovely cosy heads.

Having a hot bath on a cold winters day and topping up the hot water until I can barely stand the heat.

Sitting all cosy and warm when it’s raining outside and listening to the rain on the window.

New bedsheets. I always feel like a Princess. When I was a child (1960s/70s) in a family of 6 Mum coped with the washing by having us move our top sheets to the bottom of the bed and only washing the bottom sheet. So I never had a completely fresh bed. Such a luxury!

Also, all of our sheets were old and turned ‘side to middle’ so there was an uncomfortable seam down the centre of each.

Mum did a grand job of keeping the household going but looking back from my totally clean, smooth bed I can see how she struggled.

PortiasBiscuit · 02/07/2024 06:16

Being brought a cup of tea in bed.
DH has just brought me one, before he drives an hour to work, bless him!

EinekleineKatze · 02/07/2024 06:23

Clean sheets.
Removing the lint fluff from tumble dryer trap segment thingies in 4 perfect pieces (yes I try to line dry but live in an area that's often damp outside).

CortieTat · 02/07/2024 06:25

A walk in nature
A yoga practice session
Drinking good coffee
Smelling DH
Smelling my kids’ heads
Talking to the cats and they talk back
Standing on one leg

In a hot bubble Bath with an audiobook playing.
Im travelling the U.K. in the 1970’s with Bill Bryson via my bath at the moment!

Washing on the line in a summer breeze, just gently dancing in the sun.

That hour between 6 &7 when everyone is home from work and school, we have all eaten dinner and everyone is relaxing, safe, happy to be home, all under one roof.

When I’ve cut the grass and strimmed the edges, it looks pristine and healthy.

My lovely house when I’ve cleaned top to bottom, all laundry on the line, fresh bedding on everyone’s beds, dishwasher emptied and a dishwasher cleaning cycle ran. Floors mopped, carpets hoovered including the stairs and landing. Clean towels hanging up in the bathroom, a lovely meal cooking in the slow cooker, food shop done, meal plan for the week agreed.
Country file on a Sunday after all of the above done, perfect!

AhBiscuits · 02/07/2024 06:41

I don't work Mondays. I take the kids to school then go straight to my allotment. Weeding my onions in complete silence.

DivergentTris · 02/07/2024 06:48

Silence.
Walks in the middle of nowhere.
Being left alone.
Day's off during the week, everywhere is much quieter and chilled out.

There seems to be a bit of a theme here........people. I like them but they wear me out.

BuggeryBumFlaps · 02/07/2024 06:54

Oh I love this thread

Sitting on my sofa with the dog, when everyone has gone to bed, with my electric blanket on and the latest box set I've been watching

Seeing the first daffodils come through, I know it's spring then

My garden, it's a new thing for me but I can spend hours just pottering and sitting in it.

The first cup of tea of the day

A bath

Picking my dd up in the car, it's the only time she's a real chatterbox

MrsSheridan · 02/07/2024 06:58

I am up before the rest of the house - the quiet and my cup of coffee set me up for the day.

AnnieE83 · 02/07/2024 07:00

Coffee before anyone’s awake whilst I snuggle my little dog
rain / wind when you’re cosy inside
lighting a candle once the house is clean and tidy
mine and husbands Friday night takeaway ritual in a clean living room with something good on tv
seeing my kids walk up the path from the school bus and they’re smiling and chatting together
a bath with a glass of Prosecco and neom oil
walking dog on the beach and no one else is there

Surlyburd · 02/07/2024 07:59

Early morning when noone else up with a coffee and scroll on tiktok.

Changes in seasons especially autumn.

Clean sheet day.

PosingPosture20 · 02/07/2024 08:02

Clean washing blowing on the line. I could sit with a coffee and watch it for ages, it gives me a huge sense of wellbeing/satisfaction.

Thepeopleversuswork · 02/07/2024 08:11

A sunrise walk or run near my house
A cat sleeping contentedly in the niche on my office shelf above my desk
Getting a good seat on the train in to work listening to a podcast
An interesting discussion with a friend over WhatsApp
Lying in bed early on Saturday morning reading a book before anyone is awake
First cup of coffee of the day
A long bath with an expensive new bath oil
New underwear

Normalnot · 02/07/2024 08:23

Oh yes I forgot about getting in to bed with fresh clean sheets! It’s perfect 👌

Loving all of these replies.

Early morning birdsong

CoffeeCantata · 02/07/2024 08:28

Lots and lots of lovely things - I've often been mocked for the happiness I get from very ordinary things - particularly nature (birdsong, countryside, walks, historical sites etc etc).

But I really appreciate being called to the table to eat a meal I haven't cooked! Now, that's exciting. When you've cooked the meal you somehow know exactly how everything's going to taste - you've already 'tasted' it with your sense of smell, if not literally and the anticipation isn't quite the same.

marcopront · 02/07/2024 08:33

My daughter has spent the last week with her Dad. Whenever I called her she had the most amazing smile.

My cat who is such a scaredy cat climbing on me in the evening.

Deb13b · 02/07/2024 08:35

Sitting outside in the back garden first thing in the morning with a brew, listening to the birds. Sets me up for the day ahead.

Aspierational · 02/07/2024 08:40

Love all the things on your list except the kids one as I don't have any!

Folding my cleaning cloths. 🙈

Folding the end of the toilet paper into a point to make my next wee luxurious.

Washing up.

Finishing a book.

Closing all the curtains and putting lamps on in every room.

Using stuff up ready to start a new one, eg. food items, hand cream.

Cattery · 02/07/2024 08:47

The washing baskets being empty because it’s all washed and drying. Tidying the house and hoovering. A big Tesco shop then putting all the stuff away when I get home. A text from my sister who always has something interesting or funny to say. Hearing my son’s key in the door after he’s been out late and it’s the early hours. The cat looking like he loves me (only when he wants something). Being left alone. Sitting quietly thinking x

Just about everything here

Wokkadema · 03/07/2024 05:26

The smell of sourdough baking.
The smell of fresh peppermint or eucalyptus.
Finishing a craft project.
My cat sleeping next to me.

Hedgesfullofbirds · 03/07/2024 06:12

Listening to my longcase clock gently ticking, like a heartbeat, as it has done for 240 years since it was crafted.

Lying in bed, with no light pollution outside, watching the moon travel across the sky, listening to owls calling, sheep bleating and cows gently lowing -not a sound of human activity.

Reading a 'new', preloved book.

Growing and nurturing living things from seeds and cuttings.

Watching the birds, especially the woodpeckers, constantly on the bird feeders in the garden, the insects happily buzzing about and my chickens contentedly crooning to themselves.

The glorious smelll of petrichor after summer rain on parched ground - and goodness, do I look forward to this soon, the land here is arid and desperately in need of a good dose of the precious, life giving stuff from nature's watering can.

Coming home to my little cottage - every time I walk through the door it wraps its arms around me, hugs me and makes me feel welcome, safe and secure

Lesina · 03/07/2024 06:27

The funny whicker my horse makes when he sees me. The noise of the swallows in early summer. Watching a young fox play early in the morning, I always wish those foxes safe and happy lives. My grandson calling me. Good coffee & good dark chocolate, usually together. Life is good. I am very lucky :)

MinnieMountain · 03/07/2024 06:30

Sitting in front of the cathedral on a sunny morning before work after I’ve swum in the lido.
