All the hype.... And it's as dull as ditchwater. Absolutely no sexual tension, or shagging, or anything exciting. What happened?

I do agree I was a bit bored at times. Eloise is brilliant though!

TheNewSchmoo · 15/06/2024 21:34

Good for you. I loved it. People have different likes. Shocker.

ringoftruth · 15/06/2024 21:35

Eh? What Bridgerton did you watch that there was no shagging? How much shagging were you hoping for? 😳

Chiarali · 15/06/2024 21:57

Assuming we’re talking about season 3: Part 1 was dull. I thought Part 2 was cracking.

Theedgeoftheabyss · 15/06/2024 22:00

Not a patch on the first season!

ItsNotAShopItsAStore · 15/06/2024 22:02

I agree. I took a leap of faith to watch it because I like historically accurate period dramas not silly modern ones (I could have wept at the recent Netflix Persuasion which destroyed everything about the novel) - I lasted 10 minutes.

SilentSilhouette · 15/06/2024 22:02

No shagging?!?! Have you watched episode 5?!?!

Liv999 · 15/06/2024 22:04

I've only watched the first half so far but I agree, not a patch on season 1 or 2

Theedgeoftheabyss · 15/06/2024 22:05

It's all very restrained. And wooden af.

I loved the Queen Charlotte one. And enjoyed the Season one and two well enough.

But I think I've ruined the show for myself now by reading the books. Changing the sex of one of the characters from the books, and the sexuality of two of the characters just grated on me as it was so different.

Summerose · 15/06/2024 22:07

I liked Season 1, but even then, it felt just a little "off." But now it's definitely off and gone into tacky territory. There's so much hype around the sex scene in the latest released episodes, but I found them so cringe I had to forward the scene. I found it all too "try hard" and felt so embarrassed for the actors 🤦‍♀️.

ohfook · 15/06/2024 22:09

I liked it but without giving too much away, I preferred the big reveal in the book. I think some of the nuances of a character feeling envious and then the mutual appreciation of each others writing didn't really come across in the show.

It's not at all accurate, you gave to take it as it is to enjoy it.

TheDandyLion · 15/06/2024 22:13

I'm only about 3 episodes in and I'm a bit bored.

annoyance888 · 15/06/2024 22:14

Season one I loved but since then rubbish

Danielle9891 · 15/06/2024 22:19

I am too. I wished they just stuck to the books and went with Benedict. I loved his story with Sofie and the glove. Then Colin's story could be next season's. Also what was all of this with Benedict? So now he doesn't want to be with that woman and wants to be with that man instead.

I agree. Let’s just tell the same heterosexual love story 100,000 times. That’s what would be really entertaining.

HermioneWeasley · 15/06/2024 22:21

It’s likely poorly paced and plotted fan fiction.

Killerqueenie · 15/06/2024 22:21

Each to their own. Personally, I love it and was eagerly awaiting part 2 of s3. It didn't disappoint, in my opinion! Everyone says s1 and s2 were better, but I just didn't get into s2 the same as everyone else. I just didn't like the storyline in it with Kate and Edwina, and I couldn't take to Kate at all.

But I LOVE the Penelopy and Colin storyline so much!

I also really enjoyed the series Queen Charlotte and felt it helped give clarity on a lot of the characters.

Sparticle · 15/06/2024 22:24

I couldn’t get through the very first episode but each to her own and all that!

I know it’s not accurate and I couldn’t enjoy it because I just thought it was naff

ZebrasAreStripy · 15/06/2024 22:27

I both agree and disagree. There was some pretty steamy stuff between Penelope and Colin in the final few episodes. However, the very last episode was rather disappointing when they were all outside waving off Eloise et al. It was like ‘is that it?’…

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 15/06/2024 22:35

Me too.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 15/06/2024 22:35

I’m the first to be a historical nerd but I love Bridgerton. You just have to suspend disbelief (like the duke in the first series wouldn’t have worn a hat!) and enjoy the frivolity.

It’s Jilly Cooper TV. Brilliant stuff.

Imisscoffee2021 · 15/06/2024 22:39

I gave it a go as I love period dramas but I found it a bit cringey, including the sex scenes. Agree with the pp it was very try hard, and at times unintentionally laughable. It's like it tries to be witty but never quite gets there, quips aren't really quippy, sex isn't that sexy, just never seems to achieve what's promised.

But each to their own, alot of my mates love it and I thought I would to, but I'll stick to swooning at Mr Darcy and the odd pent up glance in other period dramas.
