Hiya,
I am in my late 40s. not that this matters, but these days I do not know where good clothes shops are?
I understand it depends on what I like, but i mean good quality, but not hugely expensive.e

For me I'd say Next. Though I'm no fashion expert but it's not ridiculously expensive and though I'm not a fan of some of their colours they do have some really good quality stuff

londonmummy1966 · 13/06/2024 15:37

I like uniqlo - unfussy and not too trend driven. Good for basics.

AngelDelightButNotStrawberry · 13/06/2024 15:48

River Island, New Look, Zara, H&M.

WhatHaveIFound · 13/06/2024 15:50

Vinted. Love it!

Kosenrufugirl · 13/06/2024 15:58

Charity shops. The only downside is I never know what I am going to find. However my wardrobe is full of expensive clothes bought at a fraction of a price

IWantToBeASleepingCat · 13/06/2024 15:58

+1

I did buy some new Levis a couple of weeks ago and they're great, but I rarely go for new clothes normally.

MsLuxLisbon · 13/06/2024 16:02

I buy a lot online, eBay, Vinted, Vestiaire Collective. If you're smart about it, you can get amazing quality for as good or better than High Street prices, and you aren't contributing to waste by buying into fast fashion. I also like Sezane, Ganni, Doen, and very occasionally Zara, although they are bad because they do so many drops, so I try to avoid them or at least only buy them second hand.

Pottedpalm · 13/06/2024 16:08

I buy a few bits from M&S ( shirts, sometimes knitwear but the quality isn’t great.
Crew
Mint Velvet
Baukjen
But mainly a few middle price independent boutiques

WhenSunnyGetsBlue · 13/06/2024 18:39

Vinted and eBay

Itsallsostressful · 13/06/2024 18:40

Marks, Zara, Next and some Primark bits...I'm 53 and used to love Dorothy Perkins but I need to try on so scared to buy online xx

I used to love Dorothy Perkins, I’m your age!

Currently, I’m a big Vinted fan. Primark is handy for some bits and I’ve discovered Boohoo, jeans are good. I like Pretty Little Thing, but only for their reliability with ‘tall’ trousers. I think their target market is young clubbing skinny types!

Meadowfinch · 13/06/2024 19:03

I'm 10 years older than you, OP

The few clothes I've bought this year have been Boden (tops), Celtic & Co (sweaters), Wrap (tops & linen trousers), Pure (wool blazer) Seeland (waterproof jacket), Paula Urban (sandals).

And the least likely, House of Bruar 🙂, not my normal favourite but a cheerful pure wool tank for a chilly spring.

I wish Mint Velvet fit me but I'm just the wrong shape. I buy less now, but hope it lasts longer

Toast for best (but I can only afford it in the sale) Patagonia, Howies, finistere for casual.

Emmadaily · 13/06/2024 19:18

All saints ( when sale is on )
River island for jeans and T shirts
Superdry great for knitwear.

JaceLancs · 13/06/2024 19:26

Outlet stores, tkmaxx and charity shops mainly

doneandone · 13/06/2024 19:33

Vinted or charity shops. I very rarely buy new clothes now.
