To expect my cat to vomit on hard floor

Rather than his choice surface - carpet ?

Yabu. Cats will always leg it to the nearest carpet to be sick!

Surprisedcupcake · 06/06/2024 06:52

If only! I'd settle for even a rug that could be washed being better than the carpet...but no 😸

ObsidianTree · 06/06/2024 06:53

My cat choose to vomit on my bed a few weeks ago. She is now banned from the bedrooms!

BiggerBoat1 · 06/06/2024 06:55

Cats are arseholes - of course they’ll find the most inconvenient place!

Johnhasalongmoustache · 06/06/2024 06:55

I wonder WHY ?

please your highness, don’t stagger upstairs to vomit

I’d choose the bed over the carpet. When I hear that familiar whine or retching, I almost launch the cat to the nearest hard floor.

of course, it only ever has a 10% success rate, and a serious risk of spreading the puke across the entire room.

I think under the bed was an all time low. Especially since ours is super king and I couldn’t reach it.

S0livagant · 06/06/2024 07:05

On a winter duvet is the worst.

BlahBlahBaa · 06/06/2024 07:06

YABU (according to cats). Mine’s preferred vomiting spot is under our bed.

turkeyboots · 06/06/2024 07:19

Of course YABU.

Mine loved to puke on coats, into bags, as well as rugs and the tiny bits of carpet in my most hard floor house.

SeasickAccountant · 06/06/2024 07:22

Mine gives a handy warning yowl ...and then, I love Terf's description of the 'launching' on to a hard floor that follows

Doyouthinktheyknow · 06/06/2024 07:26

YABVU, cats will always chop the most inconvenient place to vomit.

Dcat moves to the narrow white strip
of our coloured rug to vomit, missing all the hard floors! She only started puking upstairs when we got new carpets! She’s a fucker!!

Marblessolveeverything · 06/06/2024 07:30

Cat gotta cat!

Yes under the bed sounds the worst!

I actually caught her retching and quickly grabbed her and tried to hold her near the bin but it was too late! It was already over the bed and now down it and across the carpet where I caught her mid vomit! Worst was still all over the bed!

MathsandStats · 06/06/2024 07:34

I think it's to do with it being like grass and so hiding it. Dogs are the same. Mine always moves ONTO carpet to vomit, or failing that, the bed. So annoying when we have a wealth of easy clean hard surfaces available!

Osllo · 06/06/2024 07:36

Mine will run inside from the garden, for the sole purpose of finding a rug to puke on. She avoids the wooden floor which is the majority. I've given up trying to catch her and move her in time.

Tappingthetopfloor · 06/06/2024 07:36

I’ve asked my cat repeatedly not to vomit on my bed/carpet/ clothes but he doesn’t listen to a word I say. I’ve even tried moving him mid vomit and putting him on the hard floors but he just stops and then carries on later back on the soft furnishings. Bastard cats!

Airdustmoon · 06/06/2024 07:38

Yep, my old cat was exactly the same, carpet every time. The one time he was shut in the kitchen with its tiled floor, he chose the back doormat - one of those coir ones so impossible to clean 🙄

nothingcomestonothing · 06/06/2024 07:39

I had a cat who would go and vomit in her litter tray! She was very considerate.

Theraffarian · 06/06/2024 07:40

However do be careful what you wish for , our cat normally favours a nice carpet to vomit on . However last time decided that the top of his tallest cat tower was the idea position to fountain vomit over the side . Yes , onto a hard floor , but my god the splash facility at that height ! I’m used to a small dedicated puddle , not something that looked like the lid of a blender had been left open .

FiveShelties · 06/06/2024 07:43

This thread is just so funny and perfect timing. I got up this morning to find my dog had just managed to puke on the one rug we have in the family room. Good job I love her!

swapcicles · 06/06/2024 07:43

I've recently ordered new carpet, got down to the choice of two but had to discard the nicer textured one just cos removing cat sick from it would be a nightmare!

Mitsky · 06/06/2024 07:45

Luckily ours don’t vomit but mine interrupted a zoom call yesterday to let me know that poo was hanging out her bottom attached to grass.

Thanks mate.

Olivie12 · 06/06/2024 12:16

If only, my cat would always vomit on the carpet, she was a bit sick so vomited often.

My new cat rarely vomits but whenever he does, it is close to his litter box so easy to clean.

WetBandits · 06/06/2024 12:19

One of mine is a sicky gal (she eats spiders and promptly vomits them up) and she always chooses either the bed, the carpet or the landing, which we have ripped up awaiting new flooring. There are sizeable cracks between the floorboards, and of course she vomits between the gaps.

DoraChance · 06/06/2024 12:22

It's always in three places too I've noticed! Behind the TV on top of wires and plugs is my cat's favourite.
