To have not bothered corresponding through Vinted?

Did I make a faux pas?

Bought some things on Vinted and the seller messaged me to let me know she’d sent them - I wasn’t in any rush so thought ok, great. They arrived, all was fine and so I thought feedback was updated automatically. Next thing I know I’m getting messages saying ‘no communication’ followed by lots of sad faces. I find I get a LOT of messages and notifications on Vinted so I don’t always keep up with them but wondering if I just had a needy seller or I did something wrong?

You definitely don't have to reply to messages, however, if the service was good I always leave positive feedback, it takes 2 seconds.

Jettyspaghetti · 03/06/2024 19:24

I don't think you do have to reply, generally I try to just at least say thank you.
I do always leave feedback though.

fruitpastille · 03/06/2024 19:26

I did this and next thing I knew I was automatically refunded as vinted thought my item hadn't arrived.

In the end I had to PayPal the seller as I felt guilty they had lost out.

Hintedonvinted · 03/06/2024 19:34

Didn’t you have a notification to say it had arrived and no issues? Happy to fill those in of course

That’s not the same as leaving feedback and feedback helps people to know you are a good seller.

AstonMartha · 03/06/2024 19:38

It’s quite rude not to say thank you, don’t you think?

ComtesseDeSpair · 03/06/2024 19:39

Vinted sellers don’t receive payment until you actively confirm that “everything is okay” so sellers do get frustrated when buyers don’t bother. I rarely communicate much more beyond that apart from to leave feedback, though.

sparkellie · 03/06/2024 19:44

I don't think not replying specifically to something that didn't need a response was rude, but leaving feedback is helpful for the seller. Is it possible that's what she was referring to?

bringmorewashing · 03/06/2024 19:47

I sometimes forget to respond to messages on Vinted. Occasionally sellers are really chatty! I feel bad about it but I do manage to click 'everything is ok' and leave feedback, which is the important thing.

I don't e-mail Amazon to say thank you for sending what I have ordered????

I know. I was addressing a poster who said she had a refund. I did think feedback was automatic, though.

And I always say everything is OK. I don’t think it’s rude not to say thank you - I mean, my payment is sort of my thanks 🤣 and I don’t dick about with stupid offers or anything. I just buy, pay and have it delivered!

Come on..it's not the same thing, a faceless corporation to whom you are paying full price Vs a peer to peer transaction. Manners are important. It takes 1-2 seconds to text thanks and another 1-2 secs to confirm all ok so they can release the payment.

Hintedonvinted · 03/06/2024 21:08

I’ve always confirmed ok - just didn’t realise that a PM of thanks was needed as well. It might not take long but it still takes time and I just prefer remote interaction!

Sellers get paid automatically a few days after delivery if you don't click the everything is ok button.

It isn't needed. I've bought and sold loads through Vinted and have never yet sent or received a message to say thank you, nor would I expect it. I do say thank you in the feedback though (if I'm happy!).

Sure, but it’s pretty shitty to make somebody who might be selling their old things because they’re in need of the money wait several days longer than necessary for it rather than take seconds to confirm receipt - and sellers understandably get annoyed by that behaviour and leave feedback accordingly. Though OP has said she does always confirm receipt, so her seller presumably wasn’t referring to that.

Amazon isn't an individual private seller.

I hope you at least thank the delivery person!

ScarletWitchM · 03/06/2024 22:23

You don’t need to send a PM but you should leave feedback as a courtesy

AstonMartha · 03/06/2024 19:38

Not at all. It's an online business transaction through an automated platform. I never message ebay sellers to thank them for selling to me; just as they don't message me to thank me for buying.

Cherrysoup · 03/06/2024 22:29

Feedback is useful for other buyers/sellers so they see you’re trustworthy.

I had 2 messages from a seller this week reminding me that the item had arrived, along with 2 from Vinted and an email. I messaged to say I hadn’t picked it up (all of £3!) yet because I was away on holiday and had an emergency with the dog-broken leg, had to register at a nearby vets, get x rays, get him jabbed up to come home and then take him to the specialist to be operated on. I didn’t give her all these details, just said was on holiday, emergency with dog. She’s given me 4 stars, but said great buyer. I’m like wtf?

A while back, another seller repeatedly messaged me to pick something up from the collection point so the money could be released to her. It was a quid and I was going to get it after work the next day. I love Vinted, but some people get a bit hysterical on there.

Re feedback, you get 5 stars automatically if the buyer/seller doesn’t give it.

Chillilounger · 03/06/2024 22:33

Just leave feedback saying item was fine but seller kept sending sad face messages because it took you a few days to feedback

Hintedonvinted · 03/06/2024 23:46

So does the seller get five stars feedback automatically if you don’t give it? That was my understanding and why I didn’t bother adding mine.

OP posts:
Jeannie88 · 03/06/2024 23:50

We are all busy but it's expected on vinted you give feedback after confirmation ok. I don't always get chance to it immediately but when I do I go back to it. X

Hintedonvinted · 03/06/2024 23:56

Ugh what a pain. I thought it was an automatic thing unless you said otherwise.
