Tuna melt paninis

AIBU to believe that a tuna melt panini should contain cheese - hence the ‘melt’? The last two times I’ve had one, from different places, there has been NO CHEESE, only horrid warm tuna. What is going on? I’m sure they’ve had cheese in before!

There should be cheese that melts and dribbles out onto the panini press and goes a bit brown and crispy under the bread.

Many years ago, I had a café. I did a lot of market research before buying, and visited various places to sample the competition. The tuna panini was my benchmark of choice. The amount of places that wrapped them in napkins to take away was incredible. You spend 20 minutes picking bits of tissue off the melted cheese!

YANBU. We sell them where I work and they are tuna and cheese.

Definitely. On both occasions it has been on the menu as ‘tuna melt’ or ‘tuna mayo melt’. Nothing melty about either 😭

Melt means cheese, definitely. Are you sure they weren't just skimping to a pathetic amount of cheese?

Saying that, tuna and cheese is disgusting. As is lobster and cheese. Fish and cheese do not belong together. 😎

All panini should contain cheese IMO. I used to go to a soft play and the paninis there were lovely until one day the tuna paninis no longer had mayo. Tuna panini should defo have mayo and cheese!!

Not being particularly familiar with Italian, I thank you for the correction. I will be sure to point it out should I see ‘paninis’ written on the menu, along with ensuring there is cheese on the tuna melt x

A tuna melt should definitely have cheese. A panino should have cheese. Tuna however does not go with melted cheese. So while you didn’t get what you ordered, at least you got something edible ;) IMO of course 😂

This has happened to me the last time I had one. I was expecting cheese,so I never thought of asking. Warm tuna in bread is not nice!

The hot tuna and cheese sounds revolting, but I will try one at work next week. DH says they are really nice.
