Worms in toilet - disgusting!

Last night noticed lots of tiny brown and black worms in toilet, after nearly vomming I googled and I think these are drain fly larvae??! I tried bicarb of soda, vinegar, bleach, hot water and they are still there. Its so disgusting. What do I do??? Is this a plumber job??

Did you flush? How are they still there are they coming in with the fresh water?

Have you not used the toilet for a long time? Been away on holiday or something for a few days?

Bleach should do it in theory. How much did you use and how long did you leave it before flushing?

I think I'd definitely get someone out..that doesn't sound right.

Been away for a week. Left the bicarb and vinegar mixture all night last night and then flushed through with boiling water. Then today did rounds of bleach then hot water then flush repeated three times

Have you taken the back off to see if it's in the cistern?

I would really not be drinking my water till its been tested

Is this an upstairs bathroom? If so, you may have a water tank in your loft that feeds your toilet. Sometimes the water tank cover gets nudged and drain flies get in.

This is very important, IF this is the case you CANNOT use the upstairs taps for brushing teeth, drinking water, mouth rinse. You SHOULD be very careful showering as well and YES call a plumber, this is because of risk of Legionnaires disease.

Just took the back off, cistern is totally clean and clear.

Is it being filled
From a tank or mains?

I have no idea! How would I find out? This is a nightmare

We have water tanks in the loft and a hot water cylinder in an upstairs cupboard. Do you not know what type of heating system you have?

Is it an upstairs or a downstairs loo?

If you have a combi boiler, your cold feed will be fresh from the mains.
If you have a system boiler/ hw cylinder, your upstairs cold feed is from a water tank.

How are they not going when you’re flushing? Can you post a pic?

I’d also assume fly larvae but I don’t know how they’re not going

Plunge so most of water is gone. Spray a shed load of fly spray down. Ensure all dead. Flush again.

So when you flush do they just stay there?

They go when I flush briefly then come back!!

If they aren't in the cistern then they must be somewhere in the toilet. Either under the rim or coming up from the U bend

The advice is to repeat this twice a day for a week. Keep at it.

Looking online there are many comments about the rim. Can you put some solution into the cistern so when you flush the solution slushes out the rim? Like the vinegar bicarbonate thing

I'm not sure if boiling water would damage the cistern. I doubt it would

Definitely this. Fill that cistern up with all the poison!!
