Ironing situation - read if you need a laugh

I recently used what I thought was a new dry cleaning service, however- it turns out to be just an ironing service.

I sent a massive bunch of clothes off with this lady, who then proceeded to iron my dirty stuff and return it to me.

So now I have very neatly ironed dirty shirts on a hanger, as well as neatly folded bedding, that's visibility dirty - as my children drink chocolate milk in bed regularly.

The whole ordeal cost me 50 quid.

So she didn't notice it was dirty before she ironed it? Ok

Tel12 · 06/05/2024 08:00

It did make me laugh. TBH I have pretty much stopped all unnecessary ironing. Wouldn't dream of ironing bedding!

Londonrach1 · 06/05/2024 08:01

Didn't you check before you sent it that it was an ironing service and the clothes bedding etc won't going to be washed? Mins you I can see this as a mistake id make

Apparently she didn't notice. How ridiculous is that.

She's been asked to iron it why would she care if it was dirty?

Wishlist99 · 06/05/2024 08:01

Oh no….that’s terrible!

WonderingWanda · 06/05/2024 08:01

That's quite funny op. How much ironing did you send for 50 quid....seems quite expensive.

CheshireDing · 06/05/2024 08:02

😁awww that's a shame for £50 !

the ironing woman must have thought you were a right scruff 🤣

Save yourself more money in the future though as you'll never use her again.
Peaks and troughs

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/05/2024 08:02

She should join forces with my DH , who once hung a whole load of dirty washing outside on the washing line....

guitarheros · 06/05/2024 08:02

@welshycake a bit of common sense is required.

She clearly has none.

I won't be using her again. She was rude about it too.

OP posts:
Maireas · 06/05/2024 08:03

That is funny! 😂
Oh dear, lesson learned.
You sent her things to be ironed, she ironed them, but I bet she had thoughts about your cleanliness!

rwalker · 06/05/2024 08:03

That’s as shit as it is funny
from there point of view you’ve booked a service/there time so if they would of sent it back they would of lost out financially

but I would of expected a phone call and possibly worked with you to see if they could juggle stuff about so you could wash it and return it

What did she say?

KeepYourFingersOutOfMySoup · 06/05/2024 08:04

Hahaha, oh op 🤦‍♀️ What a palaver. I'm sure you'll be laughing about it for a while so in that way it will probably be £50 well spent in the end!

Should I be dry cleaning my bedding and shirts!?

I'm going to stop doing the bedding now. After this.

I'll just do shirts.

Maireas · 06/05/2024 08:05

Actually it is a bit odd to dry clean bedding and shirts, but each to their own.

FUBAR77 · 06/05/2024 08:07

Howling! You can just imagine her ironing and thinking what a filthy family you are as all stuff is covered in stains - surprised she didn’t start her own thread “AIBU - Please help me politely decline this families business”

pestowithwalnuts · 06/05/2024 08:55

Lol...sounds like something I would do OP.
Thanks for the laugh.
Here's my bugger-up for the day..
Was dying my eyebrows sat at my dressing table. I'm 68 so my eyebrows are a bit sparse...
Anyway...sat there in front of the mirror working away with the little brush ...but listening to DH having an argument on the phone with PayPal...and I've ended up looking like Widow Twanky.......🙄

Maireas · 06/05/2024 08:58

Picture please, @pestowithwalnuts ! 😂

No "the customer is always right". You've asked her to iron your clothes who is she to judge your washing skills?

guitarheros · 06/05/2024 09:08

@welshycake personally, I think common sense should prevail.

She could have sent me a text, saying:

I've added up all your things and Ironing service ONLY will come to XX. Are you happy for me to go ahead ?

That's when I would have realised.

I can't believe you're accusing her of having no common sense 😂

guitarheros · 06/05/2024 09:11

She was also super rude about the whole thing and demanded payment before delivery - I was going to give her cash on delivery, but she thought I wasn't going to pay her- which I would never do.

So she demanded a bank transfer before she was happy to drop it off to me. She held my dirty clothes at ransom.

Before this, she was happy to be paid in cash on drop off.

At least once a month both DD and I separately empty and put away the dirty contents of the dishwasher. I usually just leave it unless anything is visibly dirty or sticky to the touch as DH always rinses well before loading.

guitarheros · 06/05/2024 09:14

@SoupDragon I know. Oh the IRONY.
