What's going on at M&S?

They've just cancelled several orders, for items of clothing & homeware, one lot ordered a week ago, saying they are out of stock.

They are saying I'll be refunded, but everything is still showing as in stock on the website. Anyone else had this? I could understand if it was one item, but it's everything I've ordered!

What's going on?

I've had this. I ordered a few bikinis. Got an email this week saying must of the bottoms were now out of stock. Went online and they're showing as in stock. Bit annoying...

NetZeroZealot · 02/05/2024 15:09

it's really annoying. I've just reordered everything.

I don't know but I'm surprised it's taken this long for a post about it! I tried to order some stuff online and it said there were issues and the earliest date it could give me for delivery (even the nominated day one) was 10 days later. I went elsewhere.

NetZeroZealot · 02/05/2024 15:15

I've opted for click & collect this time but couldn't get a date until next Tuesday.

i ordered 2 different l click and collect for pick up this Tuesday. One order was ready sat the other sun. Both orders were for clothes that weren’t available in my local store.

BeeCucumber · 02/05/2024 15:20

I ordered a summer bag and my order was cancelled and I received a refund - even though they were in stock on the website. I found and ordered the same bag at Accessorise that arrived the next day. Even if I am successful with placing an order - they use Evri and they are very hit and miss with their deliveries. One more nail in the M&S coffin.

I've had exactly this, ordered a pair of linen trousers and it's taken nearly two weeks to tell me they're out of stock! When I looked on line they are in stock. I'll try again ...🙄

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/05/2024 16:55

Just ordered again, saying delivery by the 9th which is far too long, wonder what on earth is going on?

I had this, but still placed an order. Two days later it arrived, as if there had been no delay indicated in the first place

Just had my order which was split into a different order for each of the 8 items, and the fucking plastic security tags are still attached to the jeans. Whole point was I didn't want to go to a store, and now I have to go to get the tag removed anyway.
Was it the raffia crescent shaped bag from Accesorize, Beecumber? Just got that one from Marks in my order too.
One of the linen shirts had a very obvious pull in the fabric too.
Not happy.

Sanch1 · 02/05/2024 17:38

I had part of my order delivered but still waiting for one dress which is nowhere to be seen.........

LookItsMeAgain · 02/05/2024 17:46

I had this happen to me - turns out they were putting the items that appeared as "In Stock" (and went in to my shopping basket and I was able to check out with them in my basket) into a Sale.
I was buying a pair of trousers and then when I got my delivery, they sent something completely different, so I went to the store to return the item I was sent and to place the order in store for what I did want and when I went searching for the item, it was in a feckin' sale and out of my size.

Lightt · 02/05/2024 19:33

I’ve just had the same - part of my order was delivered a couple of days ago, the delayed items were cancelled today because they were “out of stock”, although showing as in stock on their website - so I reordered.

A little later they sent an email saying that they were sending me a £10 e-gift card to apologise for the cancellation, which has just arrived!

Rebusmyfire · 02/05/2024 19:41

Ummmmm... I ordered school trousers. Did click and collect and selected collection on a Tuesday.... DIdnt get notification.to collect for another 8 days... not usual for them.

HampdenRadius · 02/05/2024 19:44

I’ve always thought their online offering was a bit rubbish, this just confirms it.

gojumpjump · 02/05/2024 19:47

I'm pleased someone else has mentioned this... I went on to order some clothes for the kids. Can usually collect the next working day or no later than two days. It's giving me dates for well over a week away. I went to Next instead

The same happened to me too. I thought it was odd when I ordered them that there was a warning on the checkout page of possible delays. They took about a week to arrive in store for collection.

soupfiend · 02/05/2024 20:05

Marks never have anything in stock, everything is always out of stock, they piss me right off.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 02/05/2024 22:25

I've never had a problem with them.

Nextyear · 02/05/2024 22:28

I also had part of my order delayed and then cancelled. They refunded the £18 and also sent a £10 e-gift voucher. Very strange.

AlohaRose · 02/05/2024 22:32

They are changing their warehouse system, hence why everything is delayed and delivery times are longer. Or so the website told me when I placed an order last week! I could do a click and collect for Monday of this week though but then had an email telling me that everything would be delayed until Wednesday. Two of the items actually did turn up on Monday and the third didn’t get updated so I had to go in today to collect the first two items as we’re going away. Later I got an email telling me that the third item is out of stock. Hopefully it’ll settle down in a couple of weeks again.

CuriousGeorge80 · 02/05/2024 22:33

I’ve received an email today saying they are processing a refund for an item I collected from store weeks ago. Not really sure what to make of it!

Createausername1970 · 02/05/2024 22:41

I fell out with M&S a few years ago when they went boat-neck/jegging mad. Every flipping top was boat neck, which doesn't suit me, and there were numerous racks of size 10 jeggings and skinny fit jeans. And they seemed to think that all their customers are giraffes, as all of the dresses I tried on were practically dragging on the floor. I know I am not tall, but honestly.

I never had a problem buying clothes there prior to that. I have hardly gone back since.

Rugby1971 · 02/05/2024 22:42

Yep, same, items cancelled but still showing as in stock. Full refund and a £10 gift card followed by another £10 gift card. Result! Reordered, that will probably be cancelled too and another £10 gift card!

EnglishBluebell · 02/05/2024 22:48

I don't think anything in particular is 'going on' as I've had this happen to me more than once. The last time was about a year ago with some trousers. I've also had some things have a stupidly far ahead delivery date when most things are next day. I think the delivery date thing, depends on either how busy they are and which warehouse their stock for that item/one of the items within your order, is.
