TheShellBeach · 29/04/2024 16:48

I agree I don’t understand people that thinking they’re a hassle or create loads of washing up etc, I do it all in one pan it’s not a bother at all.

??

Loads of people think it's to much effort to make mash.

Get a Masha, you will get the most perfect mash ever, not 1 lump.
Even without a Masha its all done in one pan, no hassle at all.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 29/04/2024 17:59

Love mash, I use a ricer first and then beat it with a wooden spoon with softened butter and S&P.

Have it at least once a week

UpUpUpU · 29/04/2024 18:02

I 100% buy pre-made. Far too much effort to peel, boil and mash.

I can stab the fresh pack at and have it microwaved in a few minutes.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 29/04/2024 18:04

Is there such a thing as an electric potato masher?

thanKyouaIMee · 29/04/2024 18:08

Love mash! I use my kitchen aid and some double cream, salt and maybe a little hunk of butter on top. I'm a heathen though, I don't peel!

TheShellBeach · 29/04/2024 18:09

Too much effort?
🤣

I do make mash but when it's just me and I've been working all week I just get ready made. Just cba

Wrongsideofpennines · 29/04/2024 18:11

Literally just made mash for tea. We don't bother to peel. You lose half the goodness from the potatoes.

TheShellBeach · 29/04/2024 18:11

I think ready-made mash tastes nasty.

SallyWD · 29/04/2024 18:13

There was a post about this recently. I personally find it easy to make mash. I do feel people have become very lazy when it comes to cooking.

fieldsofbutterflies · 29/04/2024 18:17

I CBA to make mashed potato - mainly because I think there are much nicer ways to eat a potato.

Bax765 · 29/04/2024 18:17

I don't think it's much of an effort to make mashed potato. You can even leave the peel on if you want to, so super easy.

ItsAllMadness24 · 29/04/2024 18:18

I don't find it an effort but it's really only a winter food in this house.

DameKatyDenisesClagnuts · 29/04/2024 18:19

Erm, Congratulations on being arsed enough to make mashed potato I guess...

ItsAllMadness24 · 29/04/2024 18:20

Aw I also think the ready made stuff is disgusting but my mum loved it and only used it as she said it was much easier on her own to just bung it in the micro for a few mins.

MoonWoman69 · 29/04/2024 18:20

Farm Foods own frozen mashed potato is amazing! Had a pile with sausages and peas last night! I love them! Bung em in the microwave, so easy!

I find even reheated mash that you’ve made yourself doesn’t taste the same as fresh, so I can’t really image the pre packed or frozen stuff.

The Idahoan mash (Idaho?) is delicious. You just add I think boiling water to it. I wasn’t converted to it until recently.

It is easy to mash potatoes though too, but I whack a load of butter in it.

MissMillyFluff · 29/04/2024 18:24

Easiest thing in the world to make, it's my go to comfort food. I usually just use a masher unless it's for guests, then I use a ricer, add butter, cream and white pepper. 😍Ready made mash is awful to me, then again I'm a trained chef 😅

I’m not overly keen on the chilled mash either. Maybe at a push Waitrose own or M&S.
