To ask for ideas of fun/bizarre/unusual things I could do before I turn 40!

As the title suggests, in order to celebrate approaching 40, I want to make sure I'm living and doing stuff rather than just plodding through life washing, cooking and working.
So please could you hit me with ideas of things I could include? I have some already, some are expensive, some time consuming, some free and easy. I want a whole mix!
An example of ideas so far are things like
Pottery wheel lesson
Learn BSL
Listen to the dawn chorus
Stay a night in a ludicrously posh hotel
Indoor skydiving
Watch a sunrise on a beach
Run a 5K for charity
Learn to crotchet.

But I would love to hear some more!

I tend to set myself new years ambitions, past ones include;
Fencing lessons
Visit Rome
Cycle hadrians wall

This year I'm running a 5k, cycling London to Brighton and going to Egypt.

Longer term ideas;
Do pompei
Northern lights
Cycle 100 miles
Actually manage my garden (!)

Swim in a Lake District lake - I have a vague idea of swimming in every one, but I've done 3 and may not get much further... Wastwater was the most beautiful.

Wastwater is my favourite lake for swimming, especially if you avoid the busier locations. There are some lovely spots at the Nether Wasdale end. No motorised vessels are allowed and water can be so still that the only ripples are the ones you make. Neither of the photos were taken on sunny days - on a sunny day the view is truly spectacular.

Rydal is also good. I've only swum at the east end of Rydal Water. You don't need to be a particularly strong swimmer to swim from island to island and get a feeling of adventure. Plus the Badger Inn is a great place to refuel and warm up again after your swim.

I've also swum in Ullswater, Derwentwater and several Lake District rivers.

I have nothing to add, but this is my favourite bucket list story of all time 😆

Definitely learn BSL Op. The more people who learn the better IMO.

I really, really want to re-enact the "fight" scene at the end of Bugsy Malone. There are other things on my list, but that is number 1.

Just had a look at my list. Some other good ones I have are📧

Do family tree - started this and it is fascinating
Go to a darkzone in the UK to look at the stars
Go back to the Lake District with my MIL while she is still alive (she has a life limiting illness and has never been and I know she would love it. Also I only spent 24 hours there the one time I went). We are booked for a week this summer.
Couple of restaurants in London I really want to go to
Go to Ultimate Power sing a long
Try paddleboarding
Go snorkelling with turtles

Why are you on MN if you are not interested in the opinions of random strangers? Grin

I don’t ask for suggestions…I’m just enjoy nosing into other people’s lives !
