What’s the adult equivalent size for a 12-13 year old?

Looking at buying some period knickers for my 12 year old in anticipation of starting but no idea what size to get. Would get size 12-13 if available but they come in adult sizes.

I can’t measure her or her current undies at the moment. What’s an average 12 year old? A 6 maybe? Or an 8?

My 12 year old wears an adult size 4

Look at the online size chart of where ever you normally buy her clothes from and compare the cm.

This has the waist size equivalent for girls clothes at M&S - then compare with what they say the waist size of the pants are in cm/inches.

Could be anything from a 4 to a 14, but a 6 is probably safe

My 13 year old wears a size 10-12.
Or a medium.
It really does depend on the child and how developed they are.
My 11 year old wears the smallest available.

Dd2 is 12yo and is a size 4-6. I'd say she's fairly average sized for her age.

My daughter is 12 and she wears the size 4-6 or 6-8 dependent on make.

Modibodi and Bodyform do teen sizes. ModiBodi by age and Bodyform by hip size.

I wear a size 10-12 and regularly shop in the kids section (next especially). I usually buy age 12 or 13. I have found most shops are about the same.

I might go for the 6. Getting them from M&S as doing a uniform order so thought I’d combine it.

Also am I right in thinking you can buy some for swimming? If so, what are they called? Thanks

about a 6-8. when I was a size 8, I wore age 13 jeans

Seem to be called period swimwear but don't think M&S sell those.

My 13yo wears 12 in children's clothes and 6 petite in adult clothes.

Depends on the child my daughter is an 8/10 age 13

So from the other perspective...
I'm an adult but I often wear children's clothes as I'm a short arse. I wear 6 or occasionally 4 in adult clothes and age 11-12 in kids 😂

I have the Primark period knickers in XS, which fit fine and allow for bloating.

They also do period pants in teen sizes as well as adult sizes.

Nothing to add except I'm a 8-10 and can fit aged 12-13 underwear. (I will not tell you how I know this, but rest assured it was a necessity and I couldn't make eye contact for several days). But I'm so jealous of the wealth of products available. When I was a teen there was the bulky pads, the tell-tale rustling in the cubicle which was so embarrassing at 13. For once, practical solution for a women's issue. Great stuff.

(Although I am grateful that I am of the generation after those awful belts)

My dd is an average sized 13 year old and would wear a 6-8 or xs.

When she was 12, I'd have said more of a size 4 or xxs

Next have period pants in teen sizes that go upto age 16 and womens adult sizes, also they have some period swimwear.

A size 4 maybe a 6 is sized big.
