I'll tell you mine and my dps frequency after some replies. To be quite frank I'm a bit disgusted!

Every day with cotton buds.
Don’t care about putting something bigger than my elbow in my ear, I have very good hearing and am almost 40 so I’m not stopping now. I love the feeling, it’s like scratching an itch!
Dh doesn’t really do his other than washing them in the shower and he has terrible problems with blocked ears.

I have mine professionally microsuctioned every 3 months or so. One of my really sexy peri symptoms 🙄 is wax build-up. Once I left it too long between appointments and was barely able to hear. It was horrible.

I always make them show me the wax afterwards BlushGrin

So the point of the ear cameras is they allow you to do the clean daily or more. I use mine twice a day for a full clean. I then follow with my ear toner, rejuvenating cream and ear scrub, although if I'm being honest some days I can't be bothered with the scrub. Bit grim I know, but life is busy.

How often are people charging their ear cameras BTW?

Once a fortnight with my ear camera. My ears are sparking clean inside and out.

That's actually my arse camera - put it back please.

Stormbornform · 02/04/2024 22:09

I used to use a cotton bud every few weeks but had issues with compacted wax. Now I use olive oil in my ears every few months and daily clean in the shower.

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 02/04/2024 22:11

@Nevermindtheteacaps I think the scrub's a bit unnecessary; I've had DH add the end of a pipette onto the jet washer and just give 'em a quick blast morning, lunchtime and evening.

userxx · 02/04/2024 22:16

Nothing beats a Kirby grip for cleaning out ears, so satisfying. I once dug around a little too enthusiastically and my ear bled. Don't try this at home kids.

That's clever, but how do you keep the camera dry? @dickiedavisthunderthighs

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 02/04/2024 22:28

Carrier bag @Nevermindtheteacaps

WatermelonSugar0 · 02/04/2024 22:30

Nothing worse than dirty ears. I’m a bit obsessive with clean ears in my family. Also work with kids and feel Ill at the state of some of them!

Nevermindtheteacaps · 02/04/2024 22:34

@dickiedavisthunderthighs

Smart!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 02/04/2024 22:40

Life's tough when you have the gene for wet earwax, I guess.

Minecraftminecraft · 02/04/2024 22:41

I had insanely blocked ears in my 30’s, i literately went a bit deaf at work, then used cotton earbuds and olive oil, all manner of horrible darkness came out… now I also have an ear camera and soft silicon attachments to remove wax. It is such a revelation.

BeretRaspberry · 02/04/2024 22:41

I never clean the insides, I just wash the outsides. The only time I did used to use cotton buds, thinking it was the done thing, I had to get my ears suctioned!

I did the same with the kids too. Both my boys used to have quite a lot of wax and I used to just wipe the outside with a damp, warm flannel for the same reason. Apparently kids’ ear canals are shorter or something, hence why you can often see it more quickly.

IWanderedLonely · 02/04/2024 22:49

Every day - I have psoriasis and my ears are permanently itchy. Using a cotton bud in my ears ( not in deeply, just around the edges) is often the best part of my day. (Yes I know how sad that sounds

So glad someone else does this, so effective, and the rounded end reduces the risk.

ComtesseDeSpair · 02/04/2024 22:53

Yup, and why it’s a really bad idea to put cotton buds inside and remove the wax from children’s ears: their shorter ear canals make them more prone to infections, which the wax protects from and cotton buds can introduce.

Iwrotethelyricstoaxlf · 02/04/2024 22:54

Constantly itchy ears. So daily to get the dry skin out. Then I dunk a cotton bud in oil and wipe around )the dry skin is getting better )

I’ve got an otoscope too. Which is fab.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 02/04/2024 22:57

Never. And they seem fine, so I have saved myself a lot of time in nearly five decades.

TotallyKerplunked · 02/04/2024 22:58

Like others I use a hair grip, maybe a couple of times a week. I have a special tool for doing the kids ears and have got them well trained in keeping still. ExDH used to have lumps of wax fall out 😩definite ick factor.

Copperoliverbear · 02/04/2024 23:19

Every day x

SweetCinnamon · 02/04/2024 23:36

@Nevermindtheteacaps 😆😆👌🏼

FreakInTheSheets · 02/04/2024 23:36

I still remember the first time I got ear microsuction - OMG! My ears were almost fully blocked - the release I felt was amazing and I took a photo of the 2 wax plus next to a coin for scale.

Now I have an ear camera and have a wee dig a couple of times a week. I live for the days when I get a nice big piece out.

Iwant2beJessicaFletcher · 02/04/2024 23:37

Every day after I've washed my hair. Occasionally will go 2 days if I haven't washed my hair for whatever reason - I hate having wet ears so using a cotton bud cleans and drys them!

So glad I'm not the only one!
Think I've got an obsession with clean ears. I can not stand to see spuds in a person's ear especially kids. My poor kids and husband hate me for it but I love it. Wax removal videos on tiktok, wow. I know, I really need to get out more
