Neighbours cleaner AIBU

Hi just want some different opinions.

Neighbour across the road has had a cleaner now for approximately 8 months. She comes every Monday at 10am when their house is empty and stays for exactly 2 hours. On a Thursdays she again comes for 2 hours and is always very prompt and stays the 2 hours.

I'm looking for a cleaner and this one seems very reliable and trustworthy from my observations. Do you think my neighbour would be annoyed if I approached her and offered her an additional 2 hours every Monday and Thursday when she's finished the neighbours? I don't really get on with neighbour, fwiw.

Approach the cleaner directly and ask, they are a business not a chattel!

No need for your neighbour to know.

That's exactly what the OP is proposing.

Of course you can Ask the cleaner

rainbowunicorn · 27/03/2024 08:07

Why is this even a question? Your neighbour doesn't own the cleaner. The cleaner will have other people she works for. I really don't see the dilemma?

LauraNorda · 27/03/2024 08:11

Just ask her (the cleaner).

If she doesn't have any other clients straight after your neighbours, she should bite your hand off.

Even if she does have other clients, she may be willing to move them around.

BuffaloCauliflower · 27/03/2024 08:12

You’re not trying to get her to give up the hours she does with your neighbour so their opinion is irrelevant. Just pop out and say you’re looking for a cleaner, does she have space in these hours and what’s her price. Easy.

KrisAkabusi · 27/03/2024 08:29

Why would your neighbour be annoyed? It's got nothing to do with her.

Pinkdelight3 · 27/03/2024 08:50

She may well have other jobs elsewhere in those slots but you can absolutely ask the question and it's up to her how she manages her time and clients. Nothing to do with the neighbour. (Although it's a wee bit unnerving how you're watching the house and timing her precise movements.)

iLovee · 27/03/2024 08:52

Good cleaners are like goldust so she might not have the time but definitely ask her!! I would love my cleaner to come twice a week but there is no space in her diary!

GoldenDoor · 27/03/2024 08:59

Our cleaner loved it when a few of us on the same street wanted her. It meant she jiggled a few people around and did us all on the same day so she didn’t lose out the 30mins drive in between people etc

This ⬆️

Can't imagine anyone would get upset about this. It's only like using the same milkman or window cleaner. Most people will happily recommend their own cleaner to people who need one I think?

Kinneddar · 27/03/2024 09:16

Its none of your neighbours business. Personally I prefer a recommendation for a cleaner. You don't know how good or bad this one is. All you're seeing is she arrives on time & stays 2 hours. It's not really an indication of how trustworthy she is. Just that she's a good time keeper

She might do the minimum and sit with her feet up on MN for an hour.

Thanks all for the comments

We did this with our cleaner. The cleaner loves it as she can literally walk nextdoor to her next job.

RegretMisery · 27/03/2024 09:39

Why can't you clean your own house?

MeadowL · 27/03/2024 09:42

I could get some gossip on the neighbour too 🙈🙊

Ask your neighbour's opinion of her cleaner, she may not be the best.

Why should she!? Silly comment. She wants a cleaner so she should get a cleaner.

No, don't do that. I would be livid if I thought that my cleaner was gossiping about me to her other clients (not that she knows anything about my private life expect the very superficial stuff) It would also put her in an awkward position.

Why would you want another woman to clean your house? She will never be able to do it the right way or the way you want her to and you won't know where things have been put. I don't understand people who hire cleaners or nannies, literally what is the point? Would you also employ another woman to fellate your husband? I dunno, man.

This has to be one of the weirdest comments I have ever read on this site.
