To think it’s cringe to brag about how late you stayed out?

(Disregarding teens)

I’ve come into work today and colleague has straight away told me how she went out at 5pm and didn’t get home until 8am.

Erm … ok. She has a very show off type personality so I’m unsure if I was suppose to be impressed by this.

Sounds more like a conversation.

OhItsOnlyCynthia · 26/03/2024 21:05

If I managed to pull an all-nighter these days, every bugger would know about it.

ApoodlecalledPenny · 26/03/2024 21:06

It’s just chat isn’t it?

Wooloohooloo · 26/03/2024 21:06

If she's in her 20s I'd let her off. Older than 30 and I'd think it was a bit cringe but if she wants to do that, up to her but not worth bragging about. In the environment I worked in she'd be flagging herself as someone who was potentially taking drugs so it would be a bit foolish.

DinnaeFashYersel · 26/03/2024 21:10

I remember those days fondly. 🎉🍷💃

betterangels · 26/03/2024 21:10

How is she bragging? It's conversation. Have people completely forgotten how to have a casual chat?

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 26/03/2024 21:12

Ah the good old days- now I’m clock watching to see how early I can get home

vodkaredbullgirl · 26/03/2024 21:13

Oh the good old days, all night bender.

I agree, sounds like back in the day what we used to call, conversation. Anyhow I'd be mega impressed as I can barely make it past 10pm

Because everything she does is her showing off. It’s tedious.

This has annoyed you so much you felt the need to make a thread about it? Just smile and nod next time

PracticallyPerfectedIt · 26/03/2024 21:22

I think you just don't like her, so you're annoyed by anything and everything she says, and this is the latest thing she's said to annoy you.

Fair enough we don't get along with everyone we meet but in my work I'd just smile and nod, or engage in the chat for a moment and then get back to work. 🤷🏻‍♀️

grinandslothit · 26/03/2024 21:23

Drinkers talking about their nights out and pub crawls are extremely boring.

KickHimInTheCrotch · 26/03/2024 21:26

I love to hear about other people's wild nights out. I never go out much (and am happy not to, I'm in a quiet stage of life right now) but absolutely love hearing what colleagues and friends get up to on a night out. It's fun. Hopefully they don't mind my boring stories about my kids and my cats too much. If they do they don't show it.

RosaBaby2 · 26/03/2024 21:28

I was proud as punch last year when I managed an all nighter at a festival returning to my tent at 7am. Round of applause please! (I'm 36)

pictoosh · 26/03/2024 21:30

So you don't like your colleague then?

Can't remember the last time I was out till the morning. Oh wait I do...it was a work night out in January. Heh. I'm 48. We're all in education.

No.

This isn’t an achievement at 36.

Why are you using phrases like proud as punch? Are you sure you didn’t mean 66?

Are you always so sneery and ageist?

FLOWER1982 · 26/03/2024 21:32

Bad day?

vodkaredbullgirl · 26/03/2024 21:32

I work nights, so do pull an all nighter

RedCords · 26/03/2024 21:34

It seems like you just don't like people that go out and enjoy themselves? Also you don't need to be on drugs to do an all nighter, the drink alone is enough to keep the adrenaline pumping!

You sound like you could use a good night out!
