To think it’s cringe to brag about how late you stayed out?

(Disregarding teens)

I’ve come into work today and colleague has straight away told me how she went out at 5pm and didn’t get home until 8am.

Erm … ok. She has a very show off type personality so I’m unsure if I was suppose to be impressed by this.

No.

This isn’t an achievement at 36.

Why are you using phrases like proud as punch? Are you sure you didn’t mean 66?

You used the phrase "it's cringe" which is fecking cringey.

ah the late night pint of water- god it’s been forever!!! Well done you!!👏👏👏👏

SuperstarDeejay · 27/03/2024 05:54

Tell us you hate this colleague without telling us you hate this colleague.

I mean, how dare they tell you anything about themselves.

hopscotcher · 27/03/2024 05:56

And she's in work? Bloody hell. I'd be a little bit impressed at first and then have a secret snigger watching her flake during the day.

hopscotcher · 27/03/2024 05:58

I could have misunderstood the timescale here, lol.

WandaWonder · 27/03/2024 05:59

Yeah best stick to never ever having any non work conversion incase someone is against well everything

Usernamechange1234 · 27/03/2024 05:59

I know who I’d rather have a chat with judging by your nasty post. You sound like a joy to be around.

Beezknees · 27/03/2024 07:00

I'd rather be her mate than yours. I couldn't stay out all night personally but you don't suddenly have to spend every night at home with the telly and your slippers once you hit 30.

Heronwatcher · 27/03/2024 07:16

God you sound humourless. It’s chit chat. Better than some boring spiel about house prices or their kids sports day. @whiteteegoldhoops was joking as well- no need to react like the Trunchbull.

If you think this is “bragging” are you insecure about your own social life or something? I’d just see it as a vaguely amusing/ interesting anecdote.

pinkmushroom5 · 27/03/2024 07:18

I think it's a strange thing for an adult to show off about (if it is 'showing off' and not just chat).

I haven't been around people bragging about how late they stayed out since I was in my early 20's.

Noyesnoyes · 27/03/2024 07:18

You do get invited to all nighters do you OP? 🤔

fuckssaaaaake · 27/03/2024 07:21

I was out til 2am and told a lot of people at work because it was fun and I am a parent who never goes out. I work I a shop and all my regular customers ask what I've been up to (and vice versa) it's called a conversation

justaboutdonenow · 27/03/2024 08:34

Not so much cringe as boring.

Non drinkers complaining about drinkers talking about their nights out and pub crawls are extremely boring.

I'm a non drinker (mostly) and am often the designated driver, I still party till 8am if the occasion calls for it! I agree with you, I enjoy hearing about people going out, much more interesting than, 'what did you do at the weekend?' 'Watched corrie then went to bed'.

neverbeenskiing · 27/03/2024 09:27

whiteteegoldhoops · 26/03/2024 21:19

Because everything she does is her showing off. It’s tedious.

So it's nothing to do with the all nighter, you don't like her so everything she says is going to annoy you.

FussyPud · 27/03/2024 09:32

The only all-nighters I have these days are either migraine or insomnia driven. At least somebody out there is awake for fun reasons rather than a malfunctioning sleep cycle. 🤷‍♀️

Life is for living, is it not? I can’t see that her being happy she’s had what, to her, constitutes a cracking night out impacts you.

Yep, looks like you're the issue.

TobarnanGealt · 27/03/2024 09:35

Tell her you'd love to go out with her next time, that, unlike your cantankerous work persona, you're the life and soul of the party at 3 am.

You don’t like people saying the phrase ‘proud as punch’ and you REALLY don’t like colleagues staying out all night and having a good time. You ok?

icallitasplodge · 27/03/2024 09:37

Urgh. The language here.

”let her off” - she isn’t asking your opinion

judging how women should behave based on their age

let her live her life.

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 27/03/2024 09:38

Admitting to a all nighter on cocaine or something similar, cringe.

Let her get on with it op, I'd of probably of clapped.

icallitasplodge · 27/03/2024 09:40

Are you sure you don’t mean 66?
Why are you using phrases like blah blah blah

hun you aren’t invited on the all nighters because you sound nasty. Dont be jealous of people with friends irl x

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 27/03/2024 09:42

Your colleague sounds fun. You, not so much.

Janehasamane · 27/03/2024 09:56

You’re not coming across well. A bit envious and resentful. You clearly dislike her, and I suspect it maybe more to do with you than her.
