Last night they were both hammered and her left his phone on the side open, and I saw a WhatsApp number and he was texting. Very flirty. How are you baby? Etc etc.

Anyway…. The number is from New York when I googled it.

What shall I do? It will break my mums heart. She’s such a wonderful woman and my actual dad cheated on her. And I found ont and told her. Feel triggered.

If it was happening to me I would want to know you cannot keep this from your mum even if you confront him first and tell him your going to tell your mum honesty is the best policy

He should tell her. Tell him he has to come clean and explain his behaviour and support your mum in what she decides to do.

You can Google a number and it will tell you

I dunno if it’s a mobile. I googled the ‘area code’ and it came up as New York (I’m in the U.K.).

No. If it were me I'd probably try to look at more messages before saying anything, or confront him and see what he says.

I have online church friends and one old man thought he is clicking with a 20 something with Taiti, they both declared ( acc to his words ) mutual feelings, he will bring her to the USA, God will give him a lottery ticket , he will buy a mountain house, he will be Abraham but the lady will be young Sara, I mean .....lol

And purely on the basis of the fact you're in the UK and the number is in NY, you're now surmising that he's having an affair? How would that work then, is he flying over every week?!
I have a best mate (now) I met via Facebook 3 years ago. He lives in New Zealand, I'm married and in the UK. We message every day without fail on WhatsApp. We have video calls/phone calls. We have a lot in common. So on that premise, we're having an affair?! Ludicrous!
I think, before you accuse him of this and possibly ruin a relationship in the process, you need to have more evidence than a random message asking how someone and their baby is!

Mobile phone numbers in the US all have an area code that relates whatever state they are from.

Are you sure he is not being scammed? There are lots of of random messages you get which try to entice/engage you in a conversation with a stranger. They heavily social engineer it by saying - 'can I talk to you' I say this as a 60 year old women and have had to lock down my WhatsApp so it immediately flags somebody who is not in my contact list. I get at least 2 random - can I talk to you messages a month!
