M&S, Next, John Lewis etc seem to up to age 14. I need 15-16.

just thought of Asda so might have a quick look there. Anyone buy them from somewhere else?

The senior schools near me don't allow boys to wear shorts, which I think is ridiculous.

But can I ask what shoes/socks they wear with tailored shorts to school? I'm intrigued

I am making some out of DS older trousers.

DT’s wore trainers with their shorts

@Parker231 the reasoning is that they wouldn't be allowed to wear them in the workplace so they're not appropriate for school!

I feel sorry for the boys wearing long trousers throughout the summer. There was a story in the paper a few years back with a picture of a group of secondary school boys wore skirts to school. They said it wasn't fair that girls could keep cool and they couldn't!

@JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn - I work in corporate finance and wear trainers to work as does DH, a doctor. Some schools are outdated in their uniform rules.

Oblomov24 · 24/03/2024 19:01

Hope you find some. Most secondaries don't allow them.

Icecoldtulip · 24/03/2024 19:23

I think I’m going to get them from the uniform shop or Amazon if they have something suitable.

The large comprehensive secondary school my grandson attends added shorts to the school uniform last summer. Very sensible in the hot weather. I bought M and S, but will have to think if it stays hot as he gets older.

Asda waists are big. My DS was one size behind his age everywhere except ASDA

lilsupersparks · 24/03/2024 21:29

My son wears the same thing as he wore to primary - black socks and school shoes. At the moment he has Kickers but we are always looking for the most hard wearing shoes possible as he goes through them so quickly 😩

@Parker231 I totally agree with you. Funnily enough I work in corporate finance too and can wear jeans and trainers to work if I choose to.

School uniforms are definitely outdated.
