AIBU to expect the USA, with a population of 320 million, to come up with better candidates than Trump and Biden?

OP posts:
Noicant · 15/03/2024 12:17

Yeah, bewildering.

Newsenmum · 15/03/2024 12:18

It is beyond depressing. I’m so disappointed that Biden was chose. Trump actually has a decent chance no ffs. Pretty sure he’ll win. :(

Picklestop · 15/03/2024 12:20

It has had me baffled for years.

GoodnightAdeline · 15/03/2024 12:21

I know. Mind boggling.

Menomeno · 15/03/2024 12:21

The best and brightest? Hugely depressing.

TheSnowyOwl · 15/03/2024 12:22

It’s absolutely inexplicable.

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 15/03/2024 12:22

I know OP, I can't help feeling there have to be far better candidates out there than Tweedledum and Tweedledee...

But then I look at my own country (Ireland), and the godawful politicians we always have to choose from, and suddenly I'm not so smug.

determinedtomakethiswork · 15/03/2024 12:24

I couldn't believe that Obama wanted to work with Biden anyway. it's still so hard to believe they went from Obama to Trump.

PensePotter · 15/03/2024 12:25

Being a world leader is a much younger man's job. I think 40-65 should roughly be the parameters.

Apart from age, having only the choice of these two candidates is quite abysmal.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 15/03/2024 12:25

Yay! All we need now is for little Richi to fuck off and Boris to stand for our glorious leader again (I’m sure he would win the general election for the Wonderful Caring Tories!) and we’d back in the Golden Era. Hurrah!

(Yes, I am taking the piss)

Ifailed · 15/03/2024 12:26

Yeah, cos our past 5 PMs have been brilliant, haven't they?

shockeditellyou · 15/03/2024 12:27

We get the government we deserve.....

SevenSeasOfRhye · 15/03/2024 12:27

I don't think we're in a position to throw stones with our glass house of Sunak, Starmer, Johnson, Truss, Corbyn ....

Hellostrawberries · 15/03/2024 12:27

It's always baffled me. Ridiculous and beyond depressing. All to do with money apparently.

PensePotter · 15/03/2024 12:30

Yes, and in Scotland we have had Nicoliar and now Useless. All those wasted years of total incompentence.

Sandsnake · 15/03/2024 12:31

Joe’s too old and not the best man for the job but he’s not a twat.

QueenBitch666 · 15/03/2024 12:33

We're not doing much better ourselves 😞 ( uk )

RickyB · 15/03/2024 12:42

In my opinion... Biden is simply a puppet that is controlled by higher powers (banks, WEF etc.). Trump is a vote against the higher powers, or 'deep state' or 'swamp' as he calls it.
Basically, the western financial system is reaching the end of its life and Trump is popular because he wants to oversee the revolution.

They haven't been great but they didn't try and illegally claim an election result and then incite violence when it didn't go their way
And the party can get rid of their own leader.

SevenSeasOfRhye · 15/03/2024 12:27

None of whom started an insurrection

I agree they have hardly shown themselves to be outstanding politicians but compared to Trump they look almost competent

Bluevelvetsofa · 15/03/2024 12:52

I fear for the US if Trump gets in again.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

CranfordScones · 15/03/2024 12:53

It's mind-blowingly expensive to run for political office in the US. I remember Clinton expressing frustration at the amount of time he had to spend greeting fundraisers and donors. Much of his time seemed to be scheduled by his advisers whose job it was to get him (re)elected.

It's a dysfunctional system that's a plutocracy in all but name.

Rosestulips · 15/03/2024 12:53

I fear for the world if Biden gets in again. Needs to be in a care home

LipstickLil · 15/03/2024 12:55

I fear for the world actually. Ever heard the phrase 'When America sneezes, the world catches a cold'?
